  • Some Information for the Numbers Crunchers

I don't know if this will help, but I will show you the results of my latest Blacksmithing attempts. Granted, I am still in my 130's skill level and have come to understand from reading these posts that is seems skill up come after more attempts the higher your skill level gets. All items were Elven Chainmail, so I will simply state as an item description "Enchanted Item Name" or "Imbued Item Name."

Format: Item; sucesses/attempts; skill up; item trivial skill as currently posted. I will put an extra return line between the production runs.

Skill started at 131, INT at 178

Imbued Leggings; 0/1; no skill up; 153-172
    Imbued Boots; 1/1; Skill to 132; 145-151
Imbued Mantle; 1/1; no skill up; 146-151
    Imbued gloves; 1/1; Skill to 133; 152-155
    Enchanted Leggings; 1/1; Skill to 134; 141-150
Enchanted Leggings; 1/1; no skill up; 141-150

Skill started at 134, INT at 210 (INT jump from some new Imbued and Enchanted armor and KEI)

Enchanted Boots; 1/1; No skill up; <=132
    Enchanted Bracer; 1/1; Skill to 135; 133-135
Enchanted Mantle; 1/1; No skill up; 135-139
    Enchanted Leggings; 1/1; Skill to 136; 141-150
    Enchanted Tunic; 1/1; Skill to 137; 151-172
    Imbued Leggings; 1/1; Skill to 138; 153-172
Imbued Tunic; 1/1; No skill up; 158-175

Out of 12 attemps (can't count the trivial attempt), I got 7 skill ups. Amazingly, I succeeded 11 out of the 12 attempts, so it is impossible to tell if success in creating the items had anything to do with skilling up, but all of my skill ups came on sucesses. I think the RNG was being very kind to me and dread the "0/10 success rate" run that is hiding behind the forge.

For monitary reasons, I can't afford to make a large run of one item just for skill ups and sell successes back to the vendors. I make runs of items I think I can sell in the Bazaar so that the platinum I make can be re-invested for more attempts. Thus, for now, I will be making small runs of different items for both skilling up and selling. I honestly doubt Verant coded anything into the program to check the boredom factor (i.e. 100 attempts at the same item vs. 100 attempts at many different items) but they could easily code enhancements for success vs. failure or difference in trivial vs. blacksmiths skill level. Then of course there is always that blasted streaky RNG confusing the whole mess.

Oh well. There you go everyone. I will probably keep posting the information from my blacksmithing runs for those that want the information.
