Okay, this is gonna sound crazy. This is gonna sound nuts, but after seeing this happen on no less than 5 seperate occassions, I'm starting to wonder.
I started out the night with 156 in smithing. Because I've got other crap in my bags I can't just toss everything so I do it in trips, at 8 combines per trip.
When you buy supplies I swap out my int gear (lvl 60 wiz, 255 int) which drops me down to 239 once I put on my cha gear to buy/sell.
I'm sure you've ALL done this. Forgotten your cha gear when getting back to forge and making a few combines.
Well, EVERY time that I was at 239 int and combined, I got a skill raise. I only ever did this once each trip back to the forge before realising I was at 239 and swapping my int gear back into place before combining again.
what gives?
