While I have an alt I levelled to 250 smithing way back on fine plate and the original elven chain when it took blue diamonds to enchant mithril, now with the AAs needed to be really good, I went ahead and worked smithing on my main character. Was easier working up to 250 smithing than levelling an alt to 70 + AAs, heh.
Was just under 200 starting, from the shawl quest in the past, went directly thru the enchanted velium bits and then shadowscream route. Unfortuneatly, I didn't keep track on velium bits, but on shadowscream, it took 264 combines to go from 222 to 250. So slightly better than 1 in 10, but I had purchased Smithing Mastery 3 and salvage 2 before I started skilling, and was at 385 wis throughout.
