On my second weekend of post 188 smithing, I finally reached my goal of 220 smithing.
I decided to buckle down and get to work on the Aid Grimel quest with smithing on the radar screen. Last weekend I started farming in Hollowshade and went from 188 to 206. Had a nice run of 4 skillups in 40 attempts, and was normally getting at least one skillup per 20 attempts Not sure of the exact number of skillups, because like an idiot I camped with wailing and shrieking substances and my vah shir hammer and anvil in a no rent bag. One would think that after 4 times I would learn my lesson, so after yet again swearing i'll never do that again I redid the quest and trudged on.
During the week I would farm when possible, and managed to get to 210, took my two freebies from the Ethereal sheets and moved on to 212. After 212 I decide to break out my High Elf cultural, been sitting in the bank, may as well use it. 20 attempts no skillups, okay, thats enough of that.
It is now Saturday and I am fresh out of both substances, time to ignore the 20 request for groups and go back to mindless farming. I manage to gather enough components for 100 combines before raiding. After raiding I decide to try 20 more Cultural attempts, no skillups, back to shadowscream. My 100 attempts net me 6 skillups with only one skillup very early in my last 40 combines.
It is now Sunday I wake up, haul my butt over to Hollowshade waste more time getting the wolves up, than I do farming them, but after finally getting them to spawn, get 40 more substances, i'm outta there. Back to the forge My first attempt one skillup, things are looking pretty good. after 36 more attempts i'm thinking I gotta go hunt more stupid wolves. attempt number 38 I get my skillup, and I do the happy smith dance I'm outta there.
I am now well into the Aid Grimel Quest and I must say I was very very lucky I didn't get any really nasty hell points, for the most part it was about 1 per 20 combines, had two distinct streaks of 4 skillups in 40 combines.
Along the way I managed to find one High Elf Armor trivial. The Mystic Mithril Cuirass trivial is 214.
I absolutely cannot complain about my skillups, the smithing dieties must have be watching over me. I now have tailoring in my cross hairs and I hope that my stock pile of components is enough to power me through. I will eventually get to 250, but i'm done testing the RNG for now. I hope everyone else had a good weekend as well.
