Whisperlings Quest - Shadeweavers Thicket

This has been a topic long forgotten on the old boards (link = http://pub147.ezboard.com/feqtraderscornerfrm11.showMessage?topicID=414.topi c)

I may be 54 but I still sleep with my whisperling and want her to get better! Has anyone found out how to strengthen the frostbringers shield?

I noted that the Xakra no rent armor drops (from lesser shades, tailoring) are coming more frequently now when I'm pharming shadeling silk, that makes me think drop tables were revised in Shadeweavers Thicket during the last big patch and gives me hope for the solution! :P

I'll be sure to look around myself. Let me know if anyone has found the next step!

There *was* incomplete text from the astronomer on the palace roof, when you hailed her and asked her about the whisperlings but. . .
when they "fixed" the "bug" that was causing the sentence to stop half way through, they did it by removing the first half of the sentence.

I miss the Whisperlings

I would agree on this one. I did this quest with my vah shir beastlord, and thought it was one of the best quests I've ever done. Sure, the shield's stats aren't that exciting, but the story behind it was rather enchanting. It's just too bad that Verant didn't follow up with it, but then, that seems to happen a lot.

These drop off the larger Gor Taku that spawn in the Warlord end of the cave system(bruiser, builder, etc.), not the smaller Gor Taku on the Pal Caverns end of the caves(scout, etc.)

This might be what we are looking for for a connection to the Xakra Dat armor.

anchor?

This quest is building a stronger shield... how is something determined to be a anchor or spirit anchor? Is it through use of the identify spell?

A lot of the text about "spirit anchors" is given during the earlier steps of the Siver whisperling shield quest by the NPC in the alchemy shop(forget the name).

You can also hear a lot by talking to Groo Mcmannus and Tiamon Aroo in Shadeweaver, and giving 1 needle claw to Groo and 4 to Tiamon. This text is used to explain the combining of Xakra Kel armor with the Tattered Hopperhide armor to get Shaded Hopperhide armor.

Spirit anchors is also used during the Shadowscream armor quest given by Smith Barkhem when talking about the anvil and hammer used in the quest.

There are 2 unknowns currently with Shadeweaver/Shar Vahl involving "spirit anchors": The ending of the Siver shield quest, and the no rent Xakra Dat armor that drops in the tunnels.

Possibilities and Ideas

This has also been a past time for me when I'm in shadeweavers. I don't recall all the possible combinations that have been tried (possibly listed in the earlier link to SL-EZboards).

Let's review what are "possible" xakra drops:
Xakra Kel / Xakra Dat armor
Shadeling Silk
Shade Silk
Swirling Shadows
Condensed Shadow

What we know about combining xakra items:
Xakra has to be bound to a spirit anchor by something that affects spirit world.
i.e. Tattered Hopper + Xakra Kel + claw needle = shaded hopperhide

What we know about Siver:
Siver + bloodling carapace = frosted carapace
Frosted Carapace + 7 bloodling carapace = Whisperling Shield (wrong name)

Known items used to bind spirit items to spirit anchor:
Needle claw (xakra kel to tattered)
Vah Shir smithing quest items

Logical Xakra Shield possibilities:
Some type of hide shield (using hopper hides maybe from pit, maybe from shade weavers)
Some type of xakra sheet shield (possibly common shield recipe, think maybe with swirling shadow to keep with NO RENT trend)

Just the rambling thoughts of a Tier'Dal that has had to much Heady Paela.

The Mirror Effect

I think about this quest alot.

- There is a gor taku merchant who sells a shield.
- When gor taku die, sometimes they are replaced by shak dratha. Is this random or due to the time of day? To shak dratha spawn in their place sometimes at night?
- If the gor taku merchant is killed, would it be replaced by a shak dratha merchant who sells a shield?

Palocht is apparently nodrop/norent. My faction is too bad with Gor Taku to buy one and play with it, though. I need to kill more Shak Dratha.

exact wording

Can someone post the exact wording given in the last instruction. Where he mentions scorpialis... also maybe someone can post the wording given when you turn in scorps tail and receivie scorpialis? Just as a refresher, maybe some hints. This is a newbie quest, it really shouldn't be that hard or escalate to major factioning.

Wording

Khati Sha recruit is a newbie quest also...and it turns into something huge. I could easily see this one doing the same thing.

The wording of the last known clue to the quest is:

Spiritist Ragnar says 'Nicely done Astrall. This anchor should be sufficient to keep Siver bound to this realm for a while. She is strong enough to blind your enemies with a bright flash of light now, all you have to do is call on her spirit. I still cannot make complete sense of her thoughts, I think she is trying to tell me of another whisperling entrapped within the crater. Keep an eye open for the whisperling Scorpialis.

Spiritist Ragnar says 'In the meantime, you can seek out a shield made of Xakra. Xakra made of the ethereal fabric of the spirit realm. I know the Shak Dratha within the thicket are weavers of this rare form of shadow silk. Such a shield can help us strengthen the anchor, making it easier for Siver to aid you. It will also improve her health greatly. She has been through a lot and is in rather poor condition as it stands now.

anything happen if you hand him scorpialis?

I have scorpialis and tailfangs tail and tried turning them in to everyone previously spoken to. Others have tried as well. I also handed both in to random various other people and both were returned each time. I've also tried handing frostbringers shield to each of the previusly spoken to people and to everyone in the shammy guild without success. Now, this was several months ago and there has been a whole expansion since then and two known changes to drop tables since then.

Just fyi, the gor taku/shak dratha spawn is based on the time of day (which youll have to ask a guildie for cause you cant tell time on luclin).

The moment a spawn spot pops, it checks the time of day. if its day, it spawns one kind, if its night, it spawns the other.

Found this out farming chunks of shadow for fletching.
