Prophecy of Ro has offered us a few new trinkets to make for the players in Norrath. The making of Prestidigitase jewerly is highly sought after by lower level characters or those in need of "twink" gear.
Prestidigitase jewelry is slightly more complex than the older school stuff. If I might post a helpful guide to sterr folks in the right direction, I hope I can help others avoid some of the "huh?" moments that I encountered.
1) Go to Absymal Sea. See Rilwind Sitnai @ -165, 200, 96. You will need to make a few tools. Make a Jeweler's Glass Cup (Gnomish Heat Source & Silver Bar) in a JC bag. Make Glass Disk: (Fine Sand & Gnomish Heat Source) in a JC bag, Make a Jeweler's Glass Lense (Glass Disk & 3 Grinding Powders) in a JC bag.
2) Combine Jeweler's Glass Cup & Jeweler's Glass Lens in a JC bag. You get a Jeweler's Glass. This is a vital item and returns on success or fail in PoR JC.
3) Buy a tool. The same vendor has a generic tool. It can be changed to different types as you combine it in your JC bag. Each type of tool yields a different "cut". Each "cut" gives a different prime stat to your jewelry.
Half-moon Cut = AGI
Round Cut = INT
Trilion Cut = DEX
Pear Cut = STA
Marquise Cut = CHA
Oval Cut = WIS
Square Cut = STR
4) Buy your molds. Same guy. Prestidgitase jewelry comes in different slots and cuts. You will need a mold to place your base metals in also to conform to both. Available slots are ear, finger and neck. And, just as each gem can be cut to a shape, so can each metal be molded to a shape, yielding 21 separate molds. Buy 20 of each since those molds do poof on a fizzle. They are cheap. If you are short on bank space, get just the ring molds, trust me.
5) Get some Gnomish Heat Sources if you are making the Palldium stuff, trust me again. Get 100. (Maybe 200.)
6) Let's make some gear. The "cut" of the gem must correpsond to the "mold" of the metal. If you are going to make plats then go for rings only (non attuneable and no level requirement.)
6)a) Place your appropriate tool and the prestidigitase and your Jeweler's Glass in your JC bag. Hit combine. If you succeed the new cut gem and your glass and tool will return. If you fail only the gem poofs.
6)b) Take your chosen metal (I HIGHLY recommend the Palladium) and place it in your JC bag with a mold of the same type of gem you cut. Hit combine. If you succeed you get a shaped mold. I you fail you will lose both.
7) Final combine. Take the cut gem, the molded metal and hit combine.
8) BAM: Depsite high trivials you might have a nice end product ring. With Prestidigitase & Palladium you will yield +9 stat, 75 hp/mana/end, ac 10, +9 save D/M/P. all/all, slot 7.
