  • No More KEI for Lowbies...

    http://forums.crgaming.com/eqbb/viewtopic.php?t=86479

KEI has lost its ability to be cast on the yung 'uns on Test. I am posting this here, to save the mods some time in having to move it...

This news was sooo last week .

I've been in a flame contest on multiple boards for literally 6 months since I was level 30.

At the time arguing that it shouldn't be allowed on under 45 I was asking to nerf myself. Now that I am over 45 it is a moot issue for me, so I wont argue it.

Hope I can avoid being flamed for being happy as heck.

I am sad, only because I love the extra INT for tradeskilling. I only actually go and get it for tradeskilling - for actual levelling I just use my own clarity.

Maybe - maybe - there could be a nice big fat INT buff to replace KEI's role in tradeskilling?

Would that spell have a minimum level as KEI does?

Finally exposed - I don't read ahead in my spell lists to see what I get in the future. I wait until I get a new level to check my spell list, then it's sort of like a happy little Christmas (just look at all the cool stuff I got this level!)

            Thanks

The funny part is that Sony probobly thinks this will cut back on the whining - it's just going to replace the "ban KEI" threads with "free KEI" threads - all of the arguments for and against it being cast on pre-45s will stay the same with the only difference being that the pro-KEIs will post first instead of the anti-KEIs.

Ah well, better level up my troll's JC while my chanter can still get KEI and chant metal for him fast.

Yes. All spells level 52 and above will not stick if cast directly on characters 45 and below. The group bug is the only thing that allows these spells to stick.

They are options, but for someone doing serious tradeskilling, they are poor replacements :?

As it is, three of my characters are under 46, and all three have a tradeskill over 200. I can see myself looking for more int gear for my rogue (potter), there's no way she will get to 46 fast, and even with kei she's just under 200 int atm.

Will also definately have to level my druid to 46 if this goes through... without kei those thousands of emeralds she imbues will take WAY too long

Note: very rarely do I actively find a kei for hunting on any of my sub-46 characters, they only use it for tradeskilling.

Yes, and you'd likely only use a hand grenade for gardening... it doesn't mean it shouldn't be illegal to own one .

                        Well Nuts.

I dont' get it on my 30SK, or my 20 Paladin. Seems to be no point really.

It WILL suck on my 36 cleric, and my 36 mage. *sigh* Mostly because my cleric wanted it for Blacksmithing, and the mage for Tailoring.

It would be nice for leveling, but losing the buff for tradeskilling really really sucks.

I guess that means I need to shell out another few thousand K for yet more tradeskills gear.

I wonder if anyone checked on the Aego and Virtue as well. I usually don't go anon or role because if people need help and I am available, I will help out. I know that when I need a chanter, I usually do /who all enchanter to ask for help.

However, I do get sick of level 15 asking for virtue. I can understand that people may want KEI for tradeskills but I just don't see how virtue is a requirement. I don't even have Hand of Virtue but I still get at least one request from under 45 crowd for virtue per day. It gets annoying because when I tell them I don't have HoV, they say then they want group Aego. I don't want to spend 4 dots and half of my mana to cast one buff on a level 10 character. I don't even care if they pay.

Can someone confirm this on test server please?

as long as this is the primal screams room...

that is so incredibly UN-cool, there are not even non-censorable words for it. My main, Iroke, just finally freaking dinged 39 last night. Lack of Kei would have made the 30s unbearable for me, instead of merely intolerable. (did I mention that xp doesn't like me?)

Clico, the dwarven cleric who's sole purpose in life is to find smithing trivials, is only lvl 8, is rather dependant on Kei to give her that extra boost in wis. Especially when she gets into the post 150s, kei will be unspeakably invaluable. There is no way I have the time to level a 2nd server cleric that far. /sigh.

Sometimes Verant does good things, like the proposed bank-trade-space-thing. And sometimes, they just do unspeakably STUPID THINGS.

                            /f
I sincerely hope the No-Kei-for-lower-characters thing will not truely be implimented. I feel it would be a horrible drawback for characters, especially those who depend on the state of their mana bar to do anything in regards to leveling. Also, there is a significant population of charactors in this game who use Kei for tradeskilling purposes, for the wis/int boost it gives. Please do not allow this to go live.

For anyone says that they use KEI to enchant things, I feel your pain. I personally think the enchant/imbue spells should have their mana cost lowered.

As for wanting KEI for tradeskilling in general, tradeskills existed before and they will exist after. While I'll admit that I too have used KEI solely for the purpose of raising my wisdom, the lack of it never prevented me from hitting the combine button. I also doubt that youll get any sympathy from the tradeskillers that GM'd a trade before KEI came out, they know true pain...

I wont even get into what I think about those who just want it to hunt with.
