Speaking as a Porfesional Mispeller, I think things like that happen because the "rules" for spelling are inconsistent in our language. Every rule has exceptions and the exceptions have exceptions. We've got one of the most dynamic languages in existence because we take words from some many other languages. Thus the rules for spelling come from more than a dozen sources and 4 or more roots. Something that trips me up ALL the time is knowing when to and not to double the last consonant of a word while adding a suffix. Words ending with "el" or "le" get me badly too because it's a double hit: I don't know what rule to follow and even if I get it right (rule wise) I have my dyslexia to contend with.

Oh, if you've read any of Lilosh's posts, you KNOW those two "mistakes" were made on purpose! They certainly brought a smile to *my* face!
My current pet peve is the people that say "sorry, my bad" when they do something wrong.
YOUR BAD WHAT????
Bad judgement?
Say "sorry, my mistake" instead, please!
