Just had to get this out of my system:
The odds of you being able to reel in an abalone must be around a few billion to one. These over-grown snail-like critters would clamp down so hard on whatever rocky surface they were on the instant they felt a hook trying to haul them up from the depths. Abalone is collected through diving, and then prying them off a rock before they realize what is going on.
Yeah... fishing is about as close to diving as you can get in EQ, so I can't complain too much. It's just that helping out with abalone diving / collecting / cooking I WISH it was as easy as chucking a line into the water.
Color me jealous.
