As an ERudite Wizard... I was told to bug off with the neclace, by the paladin guild. I had to run the quest a few more times.

Now at this time there may have been some problems with the neclace which were fixed (I seem to remember something about it) but I have seen it happen personally.

From my own personal experience, the necklace only affects the Traders of Haven faction. That's all well and good, except that there are a total of four different vendor factions, meaning that the necklace only helps with a handful of vendors.

I confirm, my poor "misunderstood" little sis, a Teir'Dal Innorruk-worshipping shadowknight, is also told to bugger off by Fordel faction merchants after having done the trade commissioner quest once and the barbarian deliveries quest 3-4 times, and while wearing the trade commish amulet.

/sigh many more times running around for her I guess!

Did the trade commish quest and then the barbarian deliveries quest something like 18 times with Kheera so I didn't have to lug that amulet around.... even one more slot is a boon with tradeskilling! I shudder to think what it would take with my sk though....

anyone who's of high enough level can kill the shadel bandits in fungus grove. They give faction to all of the factions in SH (ally after some AEing sessions there ) Plus you can get a pretty nice ring off of em.

Kitties get Sneak too, as a racial attribute ... but not being a rogue, can't skill it up, and nice loooow skill level. So figured 18 runs of the quest at one point and not needing to worry about it in SH again was better than up to 5 sneak attempts -- including wait to retry Sneaking -- every time I wanted to use a merchant in SH. Adds up over time!

I could have sworn it was from the "Jhereg" Series of books , by Stephen Brust.

The main character is an assassin. He is, If I recall, figuring out how to kill a very crafty wizard. He makes a quote very similar to yours. *Shrug*


His wisecracking telepathic lizard familiar is named Loiosh. When I frist made this Online Nome De Plume a couple years back, I didnt have the book in front of me so I misspelled it. And I've stuck with the misspelling ever since.
