  • GM Trophy really requires GM skill?

Decided to get my jewel crafting up on my enchanter and get the trophy. Got my skill to 244, and used a geerlok.
Had KEI (not supposed to matter, but what the heck).

So, now that I've failed on 3 trophy attempts and used up 15k
that I didn't have (debt is so fun), I'm wondering should I give up on JC completely, not try another trophy until I'm at 250 skill, or just keep destroying plat and wasting time?

Can some cast remove curse on me?

I sympathize with you, I've spent roughly 33k to get my brewing trophy and all the tries at 250. Some people get really lucky on their first trophy attempt regardless of skill, but it just depends on how much money you'd like to risk :? Perhaps try your trophy later when you have more money saved up being in debt makes things worse when you fail. Goodluck

I didnt try making my Baking trophy until i was at skill lvl 250 - Failed on first attempt - succeded on my second - so ya can even fail at top skill (this was 250 skill with a Geerlock enabled) - can fail on anything no matter what your lvl. Thankfully in my case only cost 6k total.

With a flat skill of 242 plus a 5% geerlock you would essentially have a skill of 252 (which is the tradeskill cap) so you should have the same success rate at a flat skill of 242 as you would with a flat skill of 250, assuming that youre useing a +5% geerlock. This is just SO stupid of verant. They should flat out make you succeed at 250 no matter what. They can and do check skill levels now in pop so this could be easily added.

Just unlucky - I didn't even get to try my final combine - some genius thought that it would be a great idea to allow the whole thing to get burned while trying to complete a 20 skill firing process in the @#$% kiln.

Basically, trophies seem to be intended as yet another plat sink - although whomever thought tradeskillers needed more plat sinks once they'd gotten to the point that they could make one of these things has obviously never gotten a tradeskill to 250.

I believe I've seen this posted before but here goes... What I did was make "Misty Thicket Picnics" until I had failed 5 Times (not in a row) after the 5th failure I put my items in the Oven and made my Trophy. My Skill was 250 and I had a Geerlock with maxxed wisdom.

Success on my first one.. I was happy to say the least. I'll try that when I make the Brewing Trophy.

                  GM Eyeglass

I tried for my eyeglass at JC 240 with geerlok and got it on the first attempt. I was so worried about getting it, I had 3 artisans seals with me when I did my first combine. I am now saving my other 2 artisans seals until my other character is close enough in skill to make the attempt worth the cost.

I don't think trying to make his eyeglass in an oven is gonna help

Yeah, I know what you meant :P

                      As others have said...

Just keep trying. My suggestion: Save up for multiple Seals, and then do them all at once.

Grandmaster's Smithing Hammer. 160 Raw skill, no geerlok, 5 tries.

Grandmaster Brewer's Corker. 239 Raw skill, no geerlok, 3 tries, got a skill up on the 3rd try.

                        Jewelcraft trophy

I was very lucky and got my jewelcraft trophy at a skill of 216 + geerlok on my second try.
