  • WTF?!? where is your head at Bazaar folk?

OK let me start out by saying I am a High elven Smith... I curse SOE every day for making my Racial armor one of the only racial armors that requires not only farmed items but items that we cannot get in a ready supply (MORNING DEW) by farming.

BUT that is not why I am primal Screaming today... Today I am screaming about people who put Morning dew up for sale in the Bazaar for 100+pp PER Morning Dew! Come on people do you really thing that ticking a forage button every once in a while is worth 100pp?!? I can see 20 or even 30pp per dew BUT 1 freaking Hundred or more PER Morning Dew? You gotta Be kidding me... Look at the price of even the Blue diamond Cultural that we can make... IF I am LUCKY enough to sell it right now I would BARELY recoup my expenses. Example
    350pp Per Blue diamond x3
30 pp for the 3 jars of Acid
    900pp for 9 morning dew
call it 90pp for the 3 Cel. Essences
320pp for the 7 large bricks of Mith
    50pp for the BP mold

Now after spending ALL of that cash 2440pp total and making a BP I MIGHT be able to sell it however the Glut of ornate molds and other Planier armor on my server makes this unlikely....

In Conclusion... I hate people who think that clicking forage is worth 100+pp and I hate SOE for setting up HIE's with having to rely on another Race or class to get what is needed for our cultural!

1pp for the 3 jars of Acid (rounding UP)
call it 15pp for the 3 Cel. Essences (even in the bazaar they're 5pp each)
80pp for the 4 large bricks of Mithril (that's rounding UP)
22pp for the BP mold (again rounding UP)

Take the money I just "saved" you and use it on the 3 blocks of velium and 3 velium tempers you need as well.

My advice is.... wait a bit if you feel the ingredients are too expensive to buy. Prices fluctuate, and can be anything from 20pp-100pp for morning dew on my server (your server may vary). I tend to buy at 20-30pp each, or did when I was smithing for sale.

If you don't like the prices, don't buy. Nobody says you HAVE to smith. If you don't feel the monetary reward is enough for you, hang up your smithy hammer for a while.

90 plat for 3 Celestial Essence? Costs about 4 plat to *make* 3 essence...

30 plat for 3 jars of acid? Costs about 5 gold for 3 jars of acid from a vendor...

At least Morning Dew can be foraged. Try being a human smith needing Sunlight... Hmm. Drops off rare giants. rarely. And if it *truly* bugs you, make a forage mule. There - now it's free Morning Dew for you. You just traded cost in plat for cost in time. Welcome to the world.

        Just press the button?
Sure. as a 45th level ranger, let's see how many morning dew I get pressing that forage button in any zone I can actually get experience in.

In order to get you that morning dew, I have to take time out of interesting stuff (hunting, tradeskilling, questing) and sit in GFay or LFay and press the button.

XP in GFay? Not for the last 30 levels.
XP in LFay? Sure, on corpse runs. Those brownies are mean.

So I get to sit in a corner and press that button. Over and over and over.

Hours worth of pressing that button. At least my spell skills are improving, and I also know REALLY well where true north is.

So if you don't like my price on morning dew, go forage your own.
Your time or your money, you pick.

Actually, doesn't the morning dew now drop off faeries and brownies in lfay?

Yes it does drop of faires

As for me I leveled a ranger to 39 and maxed her foraging and I just get my own.

As I HIE cleric it does seem silly to have a cultural component ungettable by any HIE (no HIE forage its just beneath us)

So I just get my own. Morning dew is the pricy bit of most of our cultural anyway so I save myself tons of PP

Basically, if it seems that expensive in the bazaar, either go make an alt to forage or just don't buy for a while. You don't NEED to make cultural armor. The only reason they are able to keep selling that high is because people are deperate enough to buy it at that price.

It does drop off of fairies in LFay I know for certain. So it's not like you CAN'T get it because you can't forage. And, yes, many people sell things for whatever price they can get. Supply and demand. I personally won't pay 10pp per spider silk, but there are tons of people who do, because that's the consistant average price on Fennin.

Morning dew and sylvan berries drop from the brownies in the brownie city. I kill the chocolate people for their parts to make Holy Cake, and keep the morning dew and berries I get from them for either selling or tradeskilling myself.

Time to make friends with a forager or make a foraging mule for yourself. I know that I have no problem foraging things for friends if I'm in the zone already and don't need the item. I helped a guild member skill up to 202 baking on truffles because I was always foraging mushrooms in Luclin zones that I was hanging out in.

As pointed out, the Morning Dew can be farmed. Essence of Moonlight can only be harvested at night (or by mobs that spawned during the night hours). Halfling Clerics do not get forage and their cultural requires a foraged/ground spawn item (that never drops off of a mob). Count yourself lucky and praise SoE.

No offense and all respect to the components we are talking that are forageable, however, try making Clockwork armor. ALL pieces of armor come from various mobs throughout Wakening Lands. Sure, Clockwork Armor is done through tinkering and is Gnome wearable only, but.....I need this stuff from WL to max my tink skill someday, not to mention we need either imbued black sapphires or imbued rubies, which means pestering someone or making another alt for the occassion. Point being, it is a big pain to make Clockwork Cultural Armors because many of the components dropped in WL are not common and not easy to attain because of the aggro factors! If my biggest problem was foraging, well...I would make an alt and go for it!!! I hear druids are nifty to have around too!

This complaint comes up like clockwork every 6-8 weeks. Rather than rehash it, I'm just going to quote the relevant part from a prior post. And for the record, I do think 100 plat is to high for myself, but I can understand why people would want to HOPE they can get that much for it.

If I head out to JP to forage plant shoots, I MIGHT, MAYBE, qet LUCKY to farm 6 in one hour; 5 is more likely and 4 is almost expected. Let's assume I farm 5. What do plant shoots sell for on your server? Let's assume they go for 15plat each (VERY high in my opinion, I wouldn't buy them at even 10 each). So, in 1 hour of foraging I farmed 75 plat in plant shoots. You go out and farm 450 plat in an hour and the ONE hour you spent doing that is worth 6 hours of my time foraging. You go buy 3 stacks of plant shoots and spend 900 plat. OK, that hurts; 900 plat is a decent chunk of money. It'll take you what, 2 hours or less to farm the cash? It'll take me TWELVE hours to farm the plant shoots. So, in the time it takes me to farm your plant shoots: you gathered 5400 plat, give me 900 of it, get most of my work for that twelve hours (you can not forage when in combat) and STILL end up 4.5k richer for it. This is why you are not getting sympathy from the foragers here. Just because it's free doesn't mean it's easy.
Now, with your suggested prices, I might be able to make 150 plat an hour with my level ~40 character foraging Morning Dews for you. Yes, the prices you see are high but you should be glade you CAN buy them and not have to spend the time gathering them yourself.

As for the making your own mule to forage with, if you want to go ahead but realize before you start that it's pretty much an even-up trade in investment to 200 in baking AND brewing as to get 200 in foraging if you don't have a forage capable character already.

Try making trollish weapons - wandering around dah Swamp, dodging the 50th level undercon wandering frog gaurds, trying to see a ground spawn that's usually under water or imbeded in a tree - makes morning dew easy by comparison.

Well, if all that's required is hitting the forage button, then why not pop together a WE ranger real quick and just hit the button a few times?

Transfer some plat to the forage mule as well and auction/shout/ooc every few minutes that you're paying X plat each for morning dews - if you set up a hot key then all you've got to do is just sit back and press two buttons - easy as pie and saves you tons of plat.

If you don't value other people's time as much as they do, there's no particular reason they should care.

                            Someone else will value it.

Probably someone with a lot less money than you, if he actually has to forage for money.

I see these posts up also every once in a while. Here's a secret:

I'm a Wood Elf Druid and I ALWAYS buy foraged components in Bazaar. This includes items like vegetables and roots.

It makes you think who actually does forage. Well, it is low level chars who happen to be in that zone and 2-boxing people with a foraging hydras mostly. Good for them because it saves me the trouble.

A very long time ago, I once went the route of foraging my own Oak Barks, for example, for cultural tailoring. But after being bored to death, I decided it was worth going elsewhere to make 4k pp an hour instead of having like 7 to 10 Oaks Barks in that time.
