  • Don't pay 50pp for Swirling Shadows!!!

    http://boards.station.sony.com/ubb/everquest/Forum4/HTML/043473.html

The above is a link to a post on the official Newbie zone boards, extolling newbies to go out and farm Swirling Shadows so they can buy a horse at level 7.

Despite the fact that I've finished Shadowscream and it doesn't impact me anymore, I'm asking others to please not buy Swirling Shadows for 50pp each.

It pained me to pay 25pp per Shadow for the 3 points when I got so jaded that I couldn't be bothered to farm them myself (and this was simply because farming became more difficult because of all the newbs there farming). Afterwards I destroyed my Luclinite mallet and anvil and went on to Mistletoe cutting sickles, just to stop me doing any more Shadowscream.

So please, please, don't pay 50pp for Shadows. The only people who gain from this are greedy newbs who are pushing the smiths out of farming, and the only people losing out are smiths, who are being extorted into paying 50pp because they can't farm them when the area is full of newbs. If you're doing Shadowscream, then don't buy any Shadows for a week. Just collect the other substances, or go farm the Shadows yourself. Don't be responsible for a bunch of under 10's riding around on horseback.

(Not sure if this should be in Primal Scream, but since it only effects smiths I posted it here)

Frag em - if the newbies try to claim that I am interfering with thier XPing but then try to extort 50p a pop from me while they're supposedly XPing, yet only off of the stuff that's dropping the shadows, then they are no longer xpers, they are fellow farmers.

You realize Swirling Shadows drop in Shadeweavers from level 6-8ish mobs ?

Well just farm em yourself then. You can get em in shadeweavers thicket off low mobs easy enough and I do not mind taking em from newbs if I am farming. or Go to twilight sea and get some and some high level exp.

As for the shadows I had a friend sell 5 or so for 100PP each so its a market if someone is insane enough to buy at that price fine. I am not but oh well.

Yes I do. Do you realize that I don't prefer to farm there? No noob is going to interfere with my farming. I don't farm shadeweaver's usually.

As a cleric with limited "solo hunting abilities", I will continue to farm both silk and swirling shadows from Shadeweavers Thicket...

As a melee, I do Shadeweavers too ... lifetaps are a pita.

I'm just glad the lesser shades are so *very* low, so that even most newbie farmers will see them as green, and can't use the "I would get xp, you have to leave" clause against me.

I do mind tearing up a newby zone if there are real newbies there trying to actually get XP off of something - then I'll save my farming for the off hours (as with the skin farming expediditon in Unrest). I'll only say to heck with you if you the newby are trying to take advantage of the situation by focusing exclusively on the mobs which drop the item I need to farm - then, as I mentioned above, you've gone from newby to fellow farmer and then it becomes a race of DPS.

I gotta say, if any of you have a single character over level 40, you should be able to farm shadows faster then they can by a long shot. If you can't, a good explanation is needed to suffice me

No such clause exists. You are not allowed to monopolize all the spawns...and neither are they, but that's it. Whether or not you get xp has no bearing on anyone's right to kill a mob.
It's up to you, what you do will decide your own fate.

The shadows have such a lower drop rate in Shadeweaver, that to get 4+ full stacks will take a person atleast a full day(and even then i doubt it) of constant killing. Ive spent 1-1.5 hours there before and walked away with 5.

As a warrior, soloing shades in TS is out of the question.

Nobody said otherwise. The problem is, the newbies slow the spawn rate as they can't kill them quick enough, they also cherry pick the Shades, which lowers the spawn rate.

Like I said, I'm through with Shadowscream anyway. I just don't want to see fellow smiths held to ransom.
