I still have a question about the various mana spells available in LFay. I understand the ability to use illusions was removed in April of this year. What I have not seen anywhere is whether it is possible to use the sneak trick to buy from the brownies.

I haven't been int he town, so I don't know the layout, so perhaps this is just a silly question. If so, please use low heat on the flames. But if not, I'd love to know whether I, as a ranger with 75 sneak, could help out my enchanter friend, or whether he needs to beg a druid to go in wolf form.

Thanks for your kind responses.

Currently the only way to purchase these spells is by hiring a Druid to turn you into a Wolf. Sony says they'll be putting these onto another spell vender soon (and probably Highpass Hold). Sorry. :(

I cannot speak for recently, but as a monk, I have used sneak and bought many spells from the brownies, that do not particularly like me standing in front of them. :P

Sneak works just fine.

Chanters in my guild love me, 'cause I'll do runs into LFay to get them the spells if they give me the cash up front.

Now that the illusions don't work, all they have to do is wait at the GFay zoneline and wait for me to come back.

(Assuming I don't have to zone into Mistmoore to escape a train - I hate when that happens.)

And you did it with sneak? or Wolf form?

I just got my nifty foraging machette this morning (finally foraged the Letalis Zenith Vine and then poof, a druid shows up askign me if I need to port anywhere - fate. Of course, getting home from Katta took a bit more effort), so I'll mosey on back to LFay and see if I can rustle myself up some of that there morning dew stuff, and while I'm at it, I'll try a little sneaky weaky and see what that gets me. I'm a ranger so I think my sneak, which is 75, is as good as it's going to ever get.

I'll probably swap in a real sword for the machette before I do that, just in case.

Wolf Form. Being a druid helps with this a lot. No real worries as long as you make sure to reinforce it before you get in range, since it lasts about a half hour realtime.

Bought them with my rogue in sneak/hide with no problem

Andyhre, this might be obvious to you, but make sure you check that your sneak is working BEFORE you get into range. :) Sometimes, if I'm moving small distances with a SOW on, my movement doesn't appear to be much slower but my sneak is working. Best way I know to check if sneak is working without moving is to con a mob that you'd be KoS to who can't see you and see if your indifferent. Might be other ways but I don't know them.

Thank you. I don't get SoW yet, but when I am on run (as opposed to walk), it is immediately obvious that sneak is/isn't working b/c when I sneak I move painfully slowly if it is working.

Also, if I click sneak and wait, it will stay yellow if it is working and turn white after a minute or so if it is not.

Having said all that, the moment I get close, I will con like crazy.

Yeah, if you haven't got SOW yet those brownies won't kill you: they'll SMITE you… <cringe>

You can use hide too once you've opened the buy/sell window just in case someone turns around or is on patrol.
