I used the guides on the EQTraders website, and have gotten up to skill of 185, with the last couple points being made with casserole dishes. The gain rate on these seems atrocious, but it should take me up to 199.
The thing is, i have no idea what to do after that, as i intend to take the skill to 250,In my dreams, anyway =) . Can anyone suggest the most accepted route, or any ideas? Thanks in advance and sorry for the clutter =)

I skilled up past 200 pre-cassarole dishes, so I did vials to 188.

After that I did opal steins to 222.

white ceramic bands to 230.

Crucibles of escape til 236.

Star Ruby steins after that. I have 242 skill and still making the steins.

I'd go for the Opal Steins too. They seem to be the cheapest next step when you look at the cost of gems involved. You want to stay away from anything with Iron Oxide as long as you can if just for skillups!

Unless you plan on selling your opal steins to players, it is a fair bit cheaper to do planar steins to 216, especially if you can get tainted planar essence from friends or your own hunting. I made several hundred of them going from 199 to 216, and just dropped most of the unfired ones to rot next to the pottery wheel.

They have the added benefit of not needing any chanter-made components, too.

I did vials until 188, then opal stiens until 222... but that was pre-PoP

I think if you have access to a lot of planar essence then maybe go that route since Opal Stiens will be a huge waste of money ( the market is shot for them, they sell really cheap now ). But the Opal Stiens are still all vendor bought and probably the fastest skillup route.

After that I did Star Ruby Stiens. I played around with Crucibles and Bands, but the odd components were a pain to get and skillups were to slow to justify going that route. Eventually I gave up and went with just Star Ruby Steins. Again... expensive, but the fastest route.

My last 5 points I did old-school imbued idols. ONLY do the part on the wheel though, firing them is a waste. You won't get skillups ( kiln is ALWAYS a lot lower ) and they'll never sell so you're just wasting Iron Oxide. But if you can afford to toss a few stacks of idols on the ground, they're pretty easy to make.

The Bazaar made all the difference for me in the end. Availablility of mana vials was a HUGE thing, and being able to buy stacks and stacks of magic clay made my life SO much easier ( my 9th level enchie was getting really sick of casting ). The "normal" skillup route may change a lot with PoP recipies and components being available in the Bazaar now.

Since most people say "vials" for skillups. Where so you think is the best place for the pelts :?:

Unrest, no doubt.

Go and slaughter undead for zombie skins... or buy them from players in zone... or both :)

Ahh, I can handle that. Another night or two of farming vs. grinding will do me good.

Thank you. (both for the post and "letting" me steal part of your signature, hope you don't mind).

I got my pelts in EK. I slaughtered everything furry in the zone since I was also farming the spiders for silks too.

I got to 222 pottery yesterday, and i have the money to spare for the star ruby encrusted steins... i did 137 combinations yesterday, only succeeded about 40 of them. i got 0 skill ups and lost soo much money, was very disappointing. should i use a geerlock? or a 12 wis item. with the geerlock my wis is 256, and with the 12 wis item it's 268...

That's why I made my trophy at 224 skill. Looking at a thousand star ruby stein combines, artisan seals are downright cheap. :)

I farm Ek, but i'm a multi trade skiller. I farm mostly lions and spiders and sometimes snakes.

I used the Hq cat pelts top make quivers (Tailoring triv @116), now i just sell them in bazaar for 25p

i use the MQ pelts for vials (pottery)
and the LQ pelts to make leather padding (for blacksmithing Plate mail)

silk is either sold in bazaar, or used for tailoring
eggs from snakes i use in clumps of dough for baking.
you can also gather meat for baking, you can make sandwiches out of the lion/wolf meat with a mid lvl baking skill, or fillet them with baking skill of
about 140ish(which can be used to make halas pies till 228).

plus you have the advantage of having Hill Giant's and cyclops spawn occasionaly to break up the monotony of farming. There is a named HG who is part of the wiz epic (i think it's wiz, i know it's not shaman) and i've seen an ancient cyclops there once, when i was actually hunting for xp there, long time ago.

Nope, not Wiz, try Druid.

You'll be wrong still probably, but you wont be saying Wizard anymore.

Actually thinking harder it may be Mage.

Either way I hate it when he's up, because it cramps my pharmin' style.

Also i think the AC stopped spawning there a year or more ago... but I could be mistaken and he's just on a 1000 hr timer that I've missed ;)

Tarbul Earthstrider (the named Hill Giant) is for the Mage epic. He's pretty wussy for an epic beastie too. Ancient Cyclops, so far as anyone can tell, has been long ago removed from the EK spawn table. (Used to he shared a spawn spot with Tarbul and "A rogue lion")

Uhm... anyway, to get vaguely back on topic, I strongly suggest planar steins up until 216; you just need to nose around the vendors a bit to buy the Tainted Planar Essence. It's all over the **** place on vendors on Lanys right now - stuff sells for about 6 plat a pop, which together with the 10 plat for the tanaan clay (and the feeble little costs of sketches and whatnot) still adds up to being less than the cost of the opal for the opal steins, plus you don't need a jeweler to lacquer your gems for you.

mage , wizard, their both robe wearing casters. So shoot a brother, i was in the general ball park. I'm a shaman, i knew he had nothing to do with MY epic.

and the wussie part is correct, i'm a 46 shaman, and i SOLO him, takes a long time, but i kill his high HP butt. May take me casting about 20 DOTS on him but he goes down, eventually. root gets resisted occasionally, and when i have to tank through casting, he does his damage pounding on me, but once he's rooted again, my regen and iksar Bp heals me nicely.

i've run/zoned from him about 3 times, i was oom (no kei), never ran from him when i had kei.
