I know these drop off 'first floor' prisoners, but rather than slaughtering wholesale can someone give me an indication of which mobs are regarded as first floor ?
I know it sounds daft, but given that you go downstairs/upstairs so darn much in this zone, determining which is actually the 'first' floor isn't that obvious to me!

The first mobs you come to when moving through the zones. The ones you can see through the barred windows from the graveyard. Don't remember names, but there is:
a centaur
an aviak
male dark elf
female dark elf
gnome mage
drake wizard
ogre shadowknight
two human females in a cell, one a monk the other a cleric or pally
peck druid
half elf
dwarf pally
The two gaolers and three rats will assist the prisoners, but nothing that spawns on that cell block gives a faction hit.

Actually, the guards and rats will only assist if youre below a certain level. When soloing prisoners for rings, i never got an add or a guard/rat to assist at lvl 63 (even pulling right past them).

Correct, the "first floor" prisoners are those in cells on the first floor of mobs that you run into when you enter the zone. From zone in, you go down the stairs, then up the stairs, and hit the "first floor". All prisoners on that floor, if I remember aright, are indifferent cons. I suspect all the prisoner mobs on that floor are on a 20 or 25-minute timer.
The ogre SK mentioned is named Moobik, by the way. Out of about 30 kills of him so far, he's dropped a ring all of once.

I'm level 63 and they always assist. But that's probably because I use a charmed gaoler to kill stuff. No biggie, I just slow the adds and kind of ignore them. The Gaoler punishes them for me eventually.
Will try with my new blue con level 62 pet (spell is 63, I think the pet is level 58).

Do the prisoners give factions hits?
I killed one in the hall where they were KoS and got a faction hit. It was like negative to Creatures of Justice and positive to something else.
What faction do you want to raise, if any??

The neutral ones on the first floor give no faction hit. I've never tried killing the ones deeper in, so I don't know the story on them, I fear.

Prisoners on the "first floor" have no faction adjustments.
Prisoners deeper in do, as do the Gaolers and the like.
Killing Gaolers and Sentries past ther first floor gives:

+Prisoners of Justice
-Creatures of Justice

Killing Prisoners past the first floor gives:

-Prisoners of Justice
+Creatures of Justice

The various rat types seem to go to everyone's aid. And they hit hard.
Oddly enough, Prisoners and Sentries/Gaolers seem to come to each other's aid.
Granted, this information comes from my first ever trip to Plane of Justice today. Everything here hits hard, so be careful.

I too do a lot of charm killing here and have found a couple places to pull to where adds do not occur. I'm 61 now, and have been solo-charming there since 57-ish.
If you pull to the corners right beside the zone out you will not get any adds unless your mobs run out into the main hallway. That seems to be the most popular pull spot for groups who camp the first floor. At 57 I did get the occasional rat add if I passed one in the hall while pulling, but it was pretty rare. At 60+ I've never had an add.
Another spot is on the opposite side of the square from the zone out, where the door opens to go further in. You can pull to the doorway opening and you will get no adds no matter what you pull. Just be wary of AE spells, as you run the risk of aggroing Moobik in the cell behind that door.
In the time I've spent camping the first floor I think I've gotten maybe 5 rings total. Blech.

Do the guards at the first floor have no faction?
Thanks for the useful infos in this thread, i'm planning to camp some components for a ring :)

Is this still dropping? I killed 70 or so prisoners yesterday and didn't see any. Tried to /auc for one... no responses. :\

I got a ring since the last patch, BUT they are extremely rare drops. It sounds like the RNG may have been against you. :(

I'm only 61, and a Necromancer with a spectre pet (Legacy of Zek rocks, especially half elven warriors :p ), and the sentries and guards dont give me a second glance. Oh, btw, the iksar is the only non-insect creature in Justice that drops plat...
I've gotten 5 rings in 2 hours.
Grats Den Mother!!!
This ring for the longest time was the bane of my existance. The amount of things you have to kill in the tunnels just to get a single Alkaline Etched Stone or Crystalized Cloudy Eye is insane. It seems that after a few patches the drop rate was reduced significantly. Luckily for me when PoP first came out, we had a party down there for many hours and got everything but one Eye for the ring. After one of the patches we never got another drop.
In the end I bought the last eye in auction for about 10k and made the ring about a month ago. Now, Akaline stones are going for like 25k on our server and the Eyes are no where to be seen. Considering that the availability of Metallic Liquid after last patch was increased zone wide, it would be nice that the materials for this ring would were also increased slightly in the small area where they drop.
As it stands now, I wouldn't be surprised if I was the only one on our server to have a ring like this and probably Den Mother and myself are but a handful over all.... that is how rare these things are. :(

I played around in the tunnels for 2 hours yesterday (4 person group) and came out with 3 alkaline stones and 1 cloudy eye. In 4 hours the day before we only got 1 cloudy eye and no stones. They don't seem all THAT rare.
Anyway, why would you pay 25k for an alkaline stone (and still need 3 more rare drops) when you can buy the valorium ring, which is probably a better ring anyway, already made for that price?
I don't think the drop rate is bad, it's just that no one hunts there whereas everyone was killing all the mobs that drop metallic liquid even before they started dropping it.

Wow.
I know there are at least 4 on mithaniel marr. Because that's how many I've made. And two of them are on my cleric bot. ;-P
BTW, has anyone ever seen a glittering ring drop from a factioned prisoner? Or do they only drop from the factionless ones?

The Valorium Ring of Gallentry is to the Glittering Ring of Justice what the Apple is to the Orange: no relation. Glittering Ring of Justice...well, for Clerics and Shamen mainly, this ring is either head and shoulders above anything else for this slot, or will allow them to trade in another piece of their gear for a lacking stat.
25kpp for any component is an outrage, however.
The wis 20 is the awesome stat on this ring. With it, I can get my wis up to 345 right now, although I currently have the points only to get it to 320. SOON!

With the 20 wis alone on each ring, if you put AA points into PoP abilities, you can gain up to 150 mana for wearing these pretty things. Plus! the added 100hp is nice also.
Glittering rings >Valorium ...anyday.
