ARRRRRRRRRGHHH!!!!!!
I just failed my 3rd attempt at a jewelcraft trophy!!! WTH?!?
is this normal? hell everyone I know got theirs on their first combine.....Im kinda new to tradeskills, and losing so much money to a click is making me insane. Playing EQ only to gather enuff money for another combine is getting hella frustrating ffs
(btw im 250 JC and have a geerlok)

The difficulty on a trophy is pretty high.
I myself failed 8 times before finally making one.

Yeah.. but you'll prolly hit paydirt on the next combine. Gotta get yourself into the same mindset as a gambling addict :)

I know how you feel, but if you want that trophy you gotta hang in there. It doesn't help to see some people get theirs on the first try and below a skill of 250, but that's just luck I suppose. I didn't get my brewing trophy until the 7th try and that's at 250 as well :? Goodluck.

Well, I made a total of 10 combines on trophies. Well, actually nine final combines, cause I am counting the failure on one of the seals as one.
At 220 skill with a Geerlok, got my Grandmaster Tailor's Needle on 5th try. Also had four failures on the jewel mounts.
At 250 skill with Geerlok, got my Grandmaster Smith's Hammer on 5th try (counting the one seal failure as a complete try). No failures on subcombines.
So, that's two trophies in 10 tries. I'm happy with that. Now, anyways.

At 250 JC + geerlok, I failed five times. I'd decided to give up.
Then my bf said he'd pay for another combine, and helped ferry me about.
It succeeded! ..and I'm sure it was *only* because I had help from such a sweetie :)

counting 3 trophy attempts, and 3 failures so far. 2 on the final combine, and the last one on the seal. Probably wait about a week or so before I do another attempt, I'm still fairly miffed.

I was successful with mine for JC on the first shot, though I did fail mounting the blue diamond .. a small sacrifice instead of having to redo the whole thing.

Three trophies down.
Successful on the first attempt with the baking spoon, whee.
Successful on the second attempt with the jeweler's eyeglass.
Still unsuccessful after six attempts at the brewing trophy. Failed a seal and a diamond mounting in there somewhere as well.
All done at 250 skill. Max wis. Buffed to the hilt.
Someday I'll try the brewing one again...probably after I'm done with everything else :)

First I will preface this with the fact that at 201 I succeded my needle.
My wife failed her first spoon at 249 and then succeded at 250 same night.
My good friend has failed 3 at 250 on Jewlers Glass
My other friend has failed 5 at 250 on Spoon
I also sell seals in the bazaar and luckily (knocking on head) have only failed in one mounting.
Keep it up the trophy is well worth it.

I have failed 6 times and counting. Skill is 242 + geerlock. But alas, I will keep trying till I get it.

Now that they have the ability to do it (as demonstrated with ethereal bricks and strands), they should change the recipe on the GM trophies.
Cannot attempt the combine without 250 modified (so, 242 with geerlok) skill.
Trivial at 200.
Would make it truely a GRANDMASTER trophy instead of "I got lucky with RNG at 180 skill" trophy, and would eliminate spending 20k on artisan seals with failed attempts.

I really like that suggestion arriana. =)
I made my Flethers knife on my first try. I made my first Blessed Faydark Thunderbolt with 2 BDs. I feel lucky as... um... someone.. who is.. really lucky. Rar.
Friend of mine failed 7 times on their Pottery Trophy. :(

Started trying for tinkering trophy at 215, made 8 attempts between 215 and 230. All failed.
Currently trying to get closer to 250 before even thinking about trying again...

Verant has NEVER EVER said that a "GrandMaster" has to be 250.
I would be quite upset if this change was implemented. I think the current restriction of 200+ is more then adequate.

Hey now, artisan's seals are hard enough to sell without you taking away my repeat customers!

The trivial point is over 250, so clearly they had 250 in mind for it.
And it is hardly restricted to 200 now. I know people with 170 skill who have their trophy.

The question I have about this now is that you are saying to level restrict it to 250 skill.
I do not agree. I feel that at 201 I have put in my sweat, Hours, Wrist Pain, Frustration and then some to get there in Tailoring. I consider my self a GM Tailor and tried my trophy (lucky yes) I succeded. I am now at 211 and holding again with the RNG and cash issues.
I do agree maybe a 201 skill or even say 212 so that you can only try it at 201 with a geerlok.
As for being trivial over 250 heck pretty much all of tailoring is trivial over 250 after WU's.

I've been spooked by posts about Trophy failure rates. I finally risked my first tailoring trophy combine last weekend. At 249 tailoring skill (238 raw) I succeeded!! I did a happy dance because I knew the odds were against me. :D :D
