What's a spell worth?

I researched an extra copy of Everlasting Breath the other day.

Put it up on my trader for 12k, and within hours someone had bought it and put it up for resale at twice the price.

So now I'm wondering... just how much are rare spells like Everlasting Breath, Levitation, and others really worth?

As far as what any spell is worth, several factors come into play:

1) Rarity of the dropped spell on your server
2) Rarity of the research components on your server
3) Usefulness/desireability of the spell by the class(es) that need it

which all amounts to:

Price = What someone is willing to pay for it


1) Rarity of dropped spell – Everlasting Breath drops in Griegs, how often does anyone raid there on your server?
2) Rarity of spell components? no idea, but probably not common drops
3) Usefulness/desireability - Everlasting Breath is a component-less enduring breath spell. Granted, fish scales aren’t that expensive or difficult to get, but it’s a nuisance (just like I find bat wings are a nuisance for the regular Levitation spell).

So….. Is it worth 12K or even 24K to eliminate that nuisance…um, not for me, but others may have different opinions or more platinum than they could possibly ever spend or know what to do with **

Don't get me wrong... I want Everlasting Breath and Levitation one day myself... but there is no way in hell I'll pay 12kpp OR MORE for a componentless version of a spell I already have.

I keep a stack of Batwings and Fish Scales and a Fire Beetle Eye in the back at all times as a backup for CRs. What does that cost me? About 1pp.

Considering how easy it is to get Leviathan Eyes..... I wouldn't even pay 1k for the spell

aye, Leviathan Eyes made everlasting breath totally useless for a chanter. EB is 8 levels higher, and a downgrade.
