Hello fellow Tinkerers. This young paladin needs a bit of an advice. You see, I have chosen the profession of Paladin and even I am of a small stature I have done quite well for myself in my adventures minus a few scrapes and bumps in my early training.

Now although Paladin profession is very rewarding and satisfying I find myself missing the time I spent with my father, watching him puttin' with his trinkets and I find myself leaning towards the respectable trade of Tinkering.

Now I have clobbered together a few fireworks with the varied result and much amusement to my fellow gnomes. I have also managed to raise my skills up a bit.

But now here is my dilemma. As you well know Paladins are more known for their wisdom than their intelligence but unfortunatly my intelligence is a bit higher than my wisdom. At this point in my Paladin training the lack of wisdom does not hinder me, but I am a fraid it does in my chosen tradeskill.

When I first met my trainer he measured my base wisdom as 75 and my intelligence was mesured as 98. I have not in my adventures gained items that increases my wisdom as of late.

So this is my question to you. As I am still young and do not really worried about my wisdom right now, should I aquire and wear intelligence gear when I tinker or should I invest in wisdom gear?

Any thoughts and advice on this matter are very much appreciated. Thank you for listening to me and good evening.

Since skill ups will use the higher of Int or Wis for determining the rate at which they accrue, at this point, it doesn't matter.

Wis items will be more useful to you in other areas from time to time.

I think you're probably going to have to do the footwork on this one yourself. Go to Alla's and/or Magelo and build up an int profile and a wis profile, then figure out which one will be cheaper/easier to aquire. Be sure to factor in future usability...

Most of my characters are wisdom casters: druid, shaman and ranger. My tinker, however, is a necromancer. In truth he’s not evil, just misunderstood. But that’s another story. After buying and questing for wisdom items I was surprised at how few items I could find for sell in the bazaar with intelligence enchantments. That is to say items that were reasonably priced. In my experience you can find more low-end wisdom items then you can intelligence items. And since you’ll benefit more from wisdom items in the long run anyway, I’d suggest you go that rout.

However, if you have easy access to intelligence items, either finding them cheap in the bazaar or from friends or guild mates, then it wouldn’t hurt to use those until such time as your wisdom catches up. At which point you can either pass those along to another needy soul or sell them in the bazaar.

If you decide to try for some wisdom items, here’s a link to a fairly easy quest for a hand held item that will give you +10 to your wisdom: http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=2336. Be sure to read through some of the posting beneath both the item and the quest itself. There are some good walkthroughs to be found there.

Well, depending on how you'd like to go, WIS or INT wise, here's some suggestions that shouldn't cost an arm and a leg that could possibly help. Bear in mind, this would be primarily tinkering gear, not something you'd wear all the time.

WIS Based: http://www.magelo.com/eq_view_profile.html?num=620946

INT Based: To follow :) gotta get some work done :) (You could look at Trinkets in my sig, but his magelo needs to be redone still :) )

Just add KEI on top and that puts you into the 230 range quite easily, if you want to get a complete full set of "tinkering" gear that is :)

Might want to check the ears, chief.

If he is a Gnome Paladin, those earrings will RUN away from his ears.

As would that necklace.

You are correct, I totally forgot about checking race/diety properly when it came down to the final two pieces as I was working at the same time, lol.

It's all fixed now :)

Thank you fellow Tinkerers and tradeskillers. The advice you have given me is very much valuable. I am already digging in deep and I believe I will solve my dilemma pretty quickly.
