So Last night I got a wild hair, and I started fletching with my SK twink. Starting with a skill of zero, after 4 hours and 700pp I find myself at 178. This is the hightest tradeskill that Ive ever had in over 2 years of playing, and I'm kinda happy about it.
BUt Im not happy about the amount of cash that Im spending per stack of components. Im skilling up on field point, wood shaft, ceramic vane, and large nock. Tuns me about 76 plat for a stack of each of the components (120 CHA).
Is there a cheaper way? or should I just keep plugging?
Thanks

Ok WEll Im not wanting to talk to Javalin anymore....
Actually, I think the reason that it cost me 700 to start with was I was only working with an INT of abou 160 or so. I picked up a few cheap all/all int items in the bazaar to push me up from 139 (with KEI), where I usually am.
It wasnt untill about skill 162 that I bugged a friend of mine to strip his chanter for a day or two...so I pushed up to 254 (**** that last point). Then I got the next 16 points for under 200 plat.
But back to the original question....any ideas for cheaper combines?

well to get to 202 you can do field point, steel shaft, round cut fletch, large nock, it'll cost you about 1pp less per combine (those ceramic vanes are spendy) hope that helps :)
i hit 200 last night from 185 in about 2 hours and only spent 150pp
(285 int, 245 cha)

I don't know of a cheaper way, but I ended up cutting my losses big time by just selling what I made back to the merchants.
There are bows that are in that range, but I think bows are more exp to make (never made them, can't you tell?) :D
However you do it, good luck to ya!

Exactly the advise I was looking for Maeve.
Too bad I didnt read it before I skilled up on what I was making before.
201 skill now. Im gonna step away from the fletching kit for a bit. Like about a day while I run around LoY tomorrow..then its back to the grind.

If you don't mind farming then you can easily skill up to 235 on Trueshot longbows....at least if they haven't changed the trivial yet.

In an effort to help minimize costs I've been working on smithing at the same time to help fletching. Skilled up making stacks of field points, I'm going to do the same with steel arrowshafts.
currently 145 but I've got my laptop at work on a weekend....lets see if I can't break 200 :)
