Sorry, but I couldn't find info on this elsewhere on the board. Is it possible for non Vah Shir to do the pottery quests? I tried tricking them into letting me be a citizen and couldn't do it (several months ago). Did I just do something wrong (other than choose to be a high elf)?

Thanks,
Steve

It IS possible for someone non-Vah Shir to do the Vah Shir quests, but you have to MQ the slate of citizenship first. I wont go into details on that ...

I MQ'ed my citizenship - details are at the bottom of write-up here:

You can MQ it solo if you have the extra character slot.

I have heard that if you get your faction to ally as any race and go to Bindarah and say something like "I need a new slate" she will give you one. I haven't tried it with any non-Vah Shir alt so unsure if it is true.

Non vah shir used to be able to MQ the ciizenship quest to be ablw to do the progressive skill quests for cloaks. What you would to is create a vah shir the same class as your non vah shir, and do the citizenship quest up to the point you got the note from the king. The vah shir would turn this in to the registrar, you'd get the "this item by itself means nothing to me" message, and your non vah shir could turn in the slate (which the person in the north end of town will give to anyone who asks for it, I've gotten one with indifferent faction with my half elf bard, this person isn't nearly as picky as Mignah for who she'l give a slate to) and you'd get the slate and the note to the appropriiate guildmaster.

However, now if you turn in the king's note without the slate, the registrar just gives you the note to the guildmaster (no drop) and an acrylia slate, even if you've never got onw with the vah shir. So it dsoes'nt seem possible for non vah shir to MQ this anymore. Unless someone here knows a way to work around this? If so, would love to hear it.

Another way you used to be able to multiquest this is have your vah shir do the citizenship quest up to and including the point you got your signed note form the tax collector, have the vah shir turn that in to the registrar, and the no vah shir turn in the slate, allowing the non vah shir to complete the citizenship quest. But now the registrar doesn't even care if you give them the slate or not when you turn in the tax collector's note; she just gives you rhe note to give to the king. In fact, it's not even really necessary to ever get the slate in the citizenship quest now; if you don't get one, you're given one at the end of the quest (when you turn in the king's note to the registrar).

Again, if anybody knows a way to work around this, please post it here.

I was able to MQ it about a month ago. I didn't do the king's note bit, I just did the tax forms.

Here's what I did.

With your main:

Go to acrylia person and get a new slate.

Create a fresh kitty mule.

Kitty mule gives note to gm, gets note for bindarah.
Run kitty mule to Bindarah, give in gm's note.
Run kitty mule to the tax collector in the bank. Hand in Bindarah's note.
Run kitty mule back to Bindarah.
Turn in tax form.

Main turns in slate.

Main recieves citizenship slate.

Now admittedly, I did this with other vah shir who had done the quest before but had destroyed the slate for bank purposes. But it did work.

The question is not "Who can do the Vah Shir pottery quests?" but "Why on Luclin would anyone in their right mind WANT to do the Vah Shir pottery quests?"; Having done the beginnings of these as my poor little Vah Shir Shaman, I would like to politely say that they are AWFUL. They involve farming tons of greens in the pits in Shar Vahl for their rare drop Bile/Blood (which as far as I can tell does NOT drop off any other Xakra in the game) and then eventually moving on to kill sonic wolves. The reward for this is a mediocre weight reducing container, which can easily be bettered by spending all those hours you wasted farming Xakra bile on farming plat instead and just buying an Evil Eye bag.

Vah Shir Pottery quests get my thumbs down of disapproval.

I like my 8 slot Large 50% WR Urn thank you very much.

Most of the WR containers with more than 50% are 6 slot, or are small/medium. This was one of the few I could find that was 8L and better than 35%

And since you can only have one EE bag, this can fill one of my other 7 slots.

Well, if it's actually 50% then the stats on the recipe page need to be updated. =P

It is 50%. I still use mine.

Right now I have:

Rallic Bag
EE bag
Pottery urn
3 handmade backpacks
medicine bag (Alchemy on the run)
empty slot for sow boots/clicky item

I keep loosing out on the Box of Nil Space, which I do want... and I'm not ready to fork over real cash on a tinker's bag.

Just completed the quest as of 02/23/2003...

An unsuccesful combine with the fine rune quills still results in them going *POOF*.
