Hunt down the recipe and round up all components yourself. Aside from the bit from Paludal, you can probably find everything else as vendor trash from this clockwork expansion. Heck, do the simple subcombines yourself if you have blacksmithing skill.

Then, find a nice tinkerer and toss him some plat for his efforts.
