Howdy,

I have a printed copy of Verdandis LOVELY shawl walkthrough, and I think I have a fair idea of what needs to be done. What I am a bit unclear on is the levels required.

I was able to group with a buddy in the GD , and get head and toes. Turned in , got first two shawls. For my next trick, I need snow bunnies. I just dinged 39 last night, and I am thinking about questing for a bit.

1) At 39, can I survive in EW, and kill da bunnies?
2) Can I survive in EW to find Tanik?
3) Can I start to do Wurms? If not, then with a friend, perhaps?
4) I know Velks is a higher level zone, so I would probably be reduced to looting abandoned spiders.

1) At 39, you have to be careful to survive in EW, but it's very possible. I got my own griff meat in a group at around that level.
2) Depends on how fast you are. I watched a lvl 50ish wizzy drop in about 3 secs to the Death Squad. Get SoW/jboots to outrun them, and hope that you start running before they attack.
3) In a group yes. The worms are pretty decent exp too.
4) Yup.

Yep, it really depends on how comfortable you are in a more dangerous zone. I know some people who at level 60 are incapable of crossing East Wastes without sow, lev, invis, etc. I also know some level 10's who could make it without any of that. It depends on how well you trust your ability to see stuff before it sees you, how well you know the terrain, how bad the ghosting is on your machine, etc. If you don't already know it well and will be attempting to solo for all the EW parts you can, I would at least take a good bit of time running around the zone with a map to learn the big landmarks and zones. Until you get comfortable running around in the middle of it, you could also try staying near the water on the east side of the zone. That gives you a safe side at your back and an easy way to find a zone if you need to escape.

By the east coast of the zone, I assume (From the EQatlas map I have) , that you mean the zoneline to IC?

Yep, that side of the land at least. Even with the water behind you it's the equivalent of a zone wall, with nothing pathing right up to the edge, and therefore a lower density of critters nearby. And then you only have to remember if the IC zone was to the right or left and can't miss it in the heat of near death hehe.

For the silk, the spiders in CC are easier to farm, and should be viable at 39 if you're careful. Use lev and invis to drop down to town rather then fighting your way down (unless you want to collect velium of course).

Silk, yes, but threads, no... unless they added them to the drop table in CC? Crystalline silks are an extremely minor part of the shawl quest.

Lilosh,

I did shawls 3 and 4 between levels 39 and 42 as a druid, so I believe it is very possible for you. I did partner for the snow griffon hunt, as they are fairly strong for that level. I tried to solo them at first but got a couple resists and nearly wound up dead. I ended up going through 14 snow griffs before I got the four eggs. Thank goodness I didnt' fail on the souffle combine!

The death squad/Tanik is very doable at that level as long as your machine does not lag. I charmed the walrus as a pet and went looking. Once you see the ambush message you need to take off with SOW. The walrus actually took a couple of hits from the squad before dying, so that gave me a bit of extra escape time.

As for shawl 5, that is where I am at now. I'm planning on trying the wurms with a friend or two to see how it goes and I'm not so sure about how I'm going to get the silks from Velks. I'm thinking I might have to ask to loot the rotting ones.

Best of luck!!

If you have good giant faction the death squads are not dangerous. I got in good with the giants without ever hurting my dwarf factions, and I recommend it to all my friends, but for some reason hardly anyone does that.

If you don't have good giant faction, maybe you could find someone who does, just to trigger tanik for you. It takes a few minutes, but it's better than risking death.

Ahh, I thought I had stumbled on a trap when I trigged the death squad.

Now I know generally what it was.

This was as my monk, just FD'd til they despawned....

So one of them is named and needs to be killed?

Did them all through 5th at around 40s as a druid, did 6th at around 48-50 (was able to solo the siren enticers, all other sirens were way too tough, getting the two hairs took a long time), rest was easy. Did 7th by around 52, bought the Kromrif blood and someone let me loot the Runed Sea Shell. Had everything to do 8th battle at 53, didn't get it til 59 cause I'm lazy and hate asking people for help lol.

Lilosh -

If I'm not busy raiding, I can help you spawn Tanik.
