Yay (aka how I made the shawl quest in a week)

Here is my story.

I had my 3rd shawl for over a year now due to my guild being on giant faction. After I made all kael quests I needed the faction for, I switched factions back recently.

Of course I had most of my tradeskills raised by this time.

I have a good reputation on my server and folk helped me with threads in Velk's and one bile in GD after my /ooc help requests.

I have a few good friends who helped me with killing genos and tracking dire wolfs in GD.

I'm a level 65 necro so most of these mobs can't stand a chance against me but

friends > a good pet, always keep that in mind.

Day 1,

I make the Vial of Velium Vapors and head out to EW.
With the "/pet guard here" trick I keep tracking down the trap spots.
I solo about 10+ Death Squads before the Tanik spawns.

I raise my tailoring to 130 from 80-ish.

I head to Velk's and collect about 60 threads before I get sick of it and head to a raid.

Day 2,

I become death, the destroyer of wurms (tm).
Since I'm not a tracker and I hate roaming spawns I head to the wurm cave in GD.
I'm able to clear the whole cave by the time respawn happens. This way I get 1 glowing bile per hour abouts.

I also learn not to mess with the blue-to-65 con named wurm......I scratch my corpse down from the ceiling of the cave after two 1k+ gfluxes.

I head back to Velks for the last 15 threads.

I make the combine with 130 tailoring, success.

Day 3,

I raise tailoring to 161 from the 130.

I head to CS and discover the 3rd siren camp (see updated guide!), after 2 hours of clearing all siren spawns I head out with 6 siren hairs.
I got 2 manes in EW in about an hour, I buy 2 in the bazaar.
Took about 3 hours to get 2 whiskers with a tracker friend.

Make the combine, success at the 1st time with 161 skill. I destroy the 4 extra siren hairs :twisted:

I raise my fletching from zero to 180.

I head to kael, the both of the named mobs in the manor drop blood.
I get the Runed Sea Shell from a friend. I head to SG and get a tooth and a Molkor Hide, I buy the thusk in the bazaar.

All combines success.

Thats right, the 6th and the 7th shawl on the same day.

Day 4.

I tag along to a Tormax raid to repair my threateningly Dain faction.

Then lots of dead Genos. I had the sapphires and one diamond in the bank from helping a friend a while back (those were extra) and I only need to get one diamond and 3 emeralds.

I make the armor, no failures.

The dain and the Chamberlain are both dead so no 8th shawl for me.

Day 5.

I do the turn ins and The Dain is dead /snicker

Day 6.

Iceclad, the general gets stuck under the ice as usual, I get my shawl tho!

Grats man, hope it goes even close to that smoothly when I get to mine. Have some serious faction fixing to do before I can even start my first shawl (and yet my tradeskills are more than adequate to get me through the 8th)

Aye it can be done. After about a year or so I completed my 8th shawl the other day. It inspired a good friend of mine, a 65 shaman to go out and do the shawl. Less than a week later he has a shawl. Lots of money helped, he told me. :) All in all he attended 6 attempts for the 8th shawl in the last couple of weeks. It isn't as hard as it used to be for some.

Then goes on to cover the rest of his day.

Took me 3 days just to do that part. Backpacks full of Kiola Sap, broken wrist, buying Viscous mana in bazaar and one hell of an AOE party in Ekar. I swear I had one round where I killed over 100mobs in one cast.

I redid my 7th in about the same amount of time - just been lazy about getting the gems for the 8th.

I'm currently stuck on the 5th shawl. Lightblue shardwurms own me (managed to get a couple of biles, though), and as for Velks...

I did manage to pair up with a BL the other day after I started healing him mid-fight. Nothing useful dropped, though.

It is taking me quite a bit longer, more to get (or afford the pieces) parts than get the skills, but I am happily wearing my 7th now. And aye, could never have done it without Verdandi's super useful walkthrough.
