Merloc posted this on the EQ forums about Energeians: (http://forums.station.sony.com/eq/posts/preList.m?topic_id=107378&post_id=1504892#1504892)

"All current power sources are derived from Combine Energeian science... Which creates the power sources from different forms of basic energy which have been broken down into 9 core elements."

Light-------Growth
/ | / |
Air-+-------Fire|
| | | |
| | Water | |
| | | |
| Ice-------+Earth
| / | /
Decay-------Shadow

But, Merchant Woad has the following Essences (Per Allakhazam):

Distilled Essence of Air 10pp 4gp 9sp 9cp
Distilled Essence of Decay 20pp 9gp 9sp 9cp
Distilled Essence of Disease 31pp 4gp 9sp 9cp
Distilled Essence of Earth 10pp 4gp 9sp 9cp
Distilled Essence of Fire 10pp 4gp 9sp 9cp
Distilled Essence of Growth 20pp 9gp 9sp 9cp
Distilled Essence of Ice 10pp 4gp 9sp 9cp
Distilled Essence of Poison 31pp 4gp 9sp 9cp

So it seems to me that "Light", "Water" and "Shadow" are missing, and "Poison" and "Disease" are there instead.

Compared with the Energeians that are available in Katta Castrum, there is no Light, Elemental, Ethereal, Stone, Steam or Shadow essences -- I think some of these may be combinations of others, but it would be nice if we could "predict" these -- I imagine Steam is Fire + Water, for example -- I'll experiment a bit with some Sunshard Dust I have.

Anyone else see what the intended "pattern" may be?

Well, Water doesn't exist as an Essence, so I tried Fire+Ice to get Water - no go. The Lore on the Water orb says it's an Element, and indeed the "Core" element of Combine Science - possibly understandable since they're under the sea :)

I looked at the Lore for a Stone orb:

Misty Energeian Stone Orb
MAGIC ITEM
Slot: POWER SOURCE
Required level of 70.
WT: 0.5 Size: TINY
Class: ALL
Race: ALL
Item Information:
Base Elements: Growth, Earth

The element of Growth tempered with Growth results in Stone energy that is both strong and hearty.

(I assume Growth tempered with Growth is a typo :D)

-- but, iron infused energeiac clay + dull energeiac sketch + vial of viscous mana + distilled essence of growth + distilled essence of earth = DNC.

So, I guess they may not have been implemented after all... :(

well if you read the recipe books they give us in game... the sets of 4...6...8orbs that can be made are all that can be made(unless of course our dear ogre left something out*possible but unlikely*)

Actually, this text was my starting point: (Text as taken from Lucy (http://lucy.allakhazam.com/book.html?name=TSTBSPowerSource3))

"To make an energeian you need the distilled essence of an element. I have shared the secret of making these essences with the freetide, and they took off with it running, even to the point they have sworn me with secrecy on it. Though it pains me, I will not write it down as I will respect their wishes, so that they will continue to respect me."

One interpretation of this is that we won't be able to make the Essences -- an alternative one, the one that prompted me to experiment, was that there are other things that can be done with the essences, or to create combined essences.

One thing I had forgotten was this:

"The iron clay will make dull energeian and uses a vial of viscous mana along with the essence and the appropriate sketch. Iron being less conductive than the rest only works with the basic elements of ice, fire, air and earth.

Copper clay makes murky energeian and uses a vial of cloudy mana instead of viscous mana. Copper will work with the basic elements and also growth and decay.

Finally silver will make foggy energeian using a vial of clear mana. This foggy energeian can also be used with the same essences that work for murky
energeian, as well as with disease and poison."

So, I should re-try my Earth+Growth combination with Copper-Infused Energeiac Clay...

EDIT: However, inspection of the item IDs on the eqitems site shows no gaps in the sequence number for any such combinations... :(
