I've soloed a little at the zone in to Akheva ruins but I wasn't adventurous enough to go much further than the first tunnel/crossroads after the zone in. I didn't feel like dragging friends there to summon my corpse if I took a wrong turn. I was wondering, from those of you that have looted the mind wurm hides, whether getting deep enough into the zone with invis & soloing the Mind Wurms is possible. I would just bring a group but I hate asking people to do stuff just to help me with my tradeskills.

Thanks,

I don't think they could be solo'd with anything short of a level 60+ shaman/mage(epic)/necro/enchanter...and none of the solo's would be easy. In all cases the situation is 'OMG! Keep it away from me!!!'...due to the mana drain proc. However, with the adds/ect you'd be expecting...practically, I wouldn't consider that a viable solo'ing target.

Good luck if you try, though. Akheva is actually excellent 60 and below XP...so dragging friends there shouldn't be that big of a hassle.

the mind wurm there are tough little buggers. Take a tank or two, follow all turns RIGHT and you'll get there. The area has at least 2 wandering mind wurm spawns and 4 statics when you come to their first area. They're tough to pull solo, but if you have a monk or a good necromancer with death peace, it can be done (I've pulled them solo). Fighting them requires a group. At a bare minimum, I've fought them with a shaman, a cleric and a tank as well as myself. Screaming terror works on them so you can do necro mez. An enchanter is helpful to handle mez as well if you don't have a feigning class to pull, just make sure that the chanter doesn't get aggro or she'll lose her mana fast. They drain mana at about 300 points per proc, maybe a little more.

Have you considered hunting the mind worms in Maiden's? I don't know f they drop hide, but they would be soloable (I've soloed them) at least. If you can snare them, you can run about and kill them near the DSP zone. There's some areas that are traps near the undead area that trigger mind worms, too.

The mind wurms are tough little punks. I have duoed them with with my girlfriend (63 monk and 62 shaman), but they are not worth the hassle. You will have to contend with 4-5 of those little alien mobs right at the spot you'll be fighting (2-3 are stationary and I think 2 are wanderers). Splitting the wurms to pull single is a pain as well as there are 3 statics which aggro together, plus 2 wandering wurms that path right on top of them.

In any case, it CAN be done, but killing 1 wurm while root-parking 3+ aliens things at the same time makes it a little hard to farm for hides. Bring friends and you should be fine.

I do appreciate the information. I'll see if I can drag some folks there to help me. I've been soloing in ME for AA points and I have 5 peices of shade armor I need to get hides for. I'm not 100% sure but I believe the wurms in Akheva Ruins are the only ones that drop the hides.
