Just curious on what I am doing wrong in making my "special clay" for the pottery charm. I've tried combining a Vergalid clay, small block of clay, and a golden ember powder in a pottery wheel, kiln, and mixing bowl to no success.
I've tried diffrent combinations of the above also with no luck. So if anyone knows what I should try please let me know

Maybe you're missing an ingredient? I was thinking there was four ingredients for some reason. Did you add in a flask of water?

According to the book text:
working it into a normal small black of magic clay
Are you using magic clay rather than regular clay?

Text for Pottery Charm is:
"for potter ceramic clay you will actually need to mix a vergalid clay, a normal small block of clay and some golden ember powder."
The default ingredient for these charms is A Small Block of Magic Clay.
So try this:
A Small Block of Magic Clay
A Small Block of Clay
Vergalid Clay
Golden Ember Powder
(Water Flask is only for the next step. So shouldn't be the Water Flask here.)
