Seems I've deep-sixed my Dismal Rage faction to the point where they, too, will kill me on sight. Tzimm's only friends in eastern Antonica are the clerics of Marr. . .friend only because it's more effort to kill me than venerate the minnow. So I start walking back to my hometown, Qeynos, to train specializations.
La la la, there are two people in East Karana.
Ranger tells the guild, If you see that silver griffon, bonk it on the head for me, will ya?
You tell the guild, I'm a CLERIC for cryin' tears! I have the offensive capability of a fuelless weedwhacker!
Cleric tells the guild, Amen.
I eye the swarms of crag spiders. They eight-eye me back. They flash fangs with 144 point DoT. They wave forelegs capable of interrupting one-second spells.
I swear they smiled.
You wouldn't be wearing that look if I were piloting my necro now, I promised them, shaking my shield.
They made a great show out of polishing their forelegs and fangs.

Oh, I am SO glad I have PoP now. Those long walks in Antonica are a thing of the past.
In the past, however, I've scooted around to the north or south to evade the Crag Spiders and get to the Wooden Bridge.
Of course, you could always walk the south way through the Jungle. No Crag Spiders there, but my GOD that would be along walk.

Just be thankful they're original EQ instead of post-Kunark... can you imagine the ridiculous size they might have made them???

/em curls up into a fetal ball, whimpering...
terrorantula, Terrorantula, TERRORANTULA!!!!
I'm not normally afraid of spiders, but anything taller than a sand giant, the proportions of a giant spider, and an aggro radius the width of FRIKKIN SOUTH RO! Is just a bit scary...

I hate the Karanas because they're so bloody huge & empty!
I dash down to Rathe Mountains alot, both for killing Hill Giants and for turning in Ro Mold items... The Ro Mold quests are great xp, even at 51!

I love the Karanas! So many wonderful lions and spiders and griffons willing to di...err donate their skins and silks and blood to me! If only they didn't vanish almost 10 minutes after I enter... :( You'd think the Karanas were scared of me or something.
Mwahahahahahahaha...

South through the jungle used to be the only way I went...seemed faster, what with not having to worry about Kith at night, getting lost in HHP, falling off the ramp in EK because I wasn't paying attention, etc. Besides, lots more scenery and things to keep the mind occupied.

Ahhhh.... it brings back memories.
In the early days of EQ people would organize convoys where higher level players would escort lower levels between Freeport and Qeynos.
OLD TIMER TALKING TO EQ NEWBIE
"Son, when I was your age I had to WALK from Qeynos to Freeport. I had to go through the rain in the Karanas, beset by wild spiders and griffons. You newbies have it sooooo soft with your new-fangled rapid transit system."

I want to crack anyone in the noggin that begs for a SOW or a port somewhere. *grins* Pre-Kunark I, like most enchanters and some bards, was doing my best to cash in on the Stein of Moggok quest. I probably sold well over twenty of the things. I didn't have a pocket-druid. I didn't beg for ports. I didn't even beg for a SOW. Why? Because every piece of plat I got for those Steins were mine. MINE I TELLS YOU!
I bound myself in Erudin. Grabbed the tonic needed there and waited for the Qeynos boat. In Qeynos I logged out and grabbed my Fish Killing Alt (TM). I logged back in, grabbed my fish, and hoofed it over to Rivervale. After a long "discussion" with the Bixies there about their honeycomb I gleefully collected my Honey Jum and hoofed it over to Freeport. If I was lucky, I had Kiola Nuts in the bank. If I wasn't... I took the Ocean of Tears cruise. They didn't even serve drinks!! After getting my nuts I'd go hand them in for a book I couldn't even open to check out the wonderous recipies in it... *swears under his breath*. Then, it was time to run screaming through the swarms of Spectres and Sand Giants in Oasis and then flail my tiny limbs while wailing in agony escaping the spiders, dervs, and orcs of Southern Ro. A quick break in Innothule to rest my poor feet in the cool mud... then off to Feerrott. With great reluctance I took on the guise of an Ogre and made my way down to Clurg. Fooling his simpleton mind with a relatively low ranking ensorclement I was the proud owner of yet another Stein. One magical gate later and it started all over again. This time however I was screaming my wares to everyone as I went running across the world.
Again, with no ports and no SOW.
People who want a SOW or a port are just plain lazy in my eyes *grins and laughs*
