  • Iceclad HATES me.

I was bored last night, after wasting away all my tailoring combines, I had a little Spare Mana(KEI from tradeskilling), so I decided to head off to IC , and try to tame a few cougars.

I got my normal "Porting to IC" spells up, (Ring of IC and Gate most noticably), and ported. Take half a step, still inside the port in, and

"A Snow Dervish hits YOU for 35 points of Damage"
"A Snow Dervish hits YOU for 60 points of Damage"

This continues until I snare the foul beast, and try to make room to cast gate. As I am backing up, and am 20 feet away from the little thing, I see

"A Snow Dervish hits YOU for 40 points of Damage"
"A Snow Dervish hits YOU for 12 points of Damage"

Another one aggroed on me. So I manage to channel a snare through, put distance between us, and gate back to my bind point.

With one second left in my spell casting, I see something VERY close to me, that I con out of habit.
"Rex Bluehammer (Or whatever the named frost giant is) Scowls at you, ready to attack. He would wipe the floor with you"

In bright yellow letters. With me at 30% health. Luckily, he didnt see me and I gated successfully.

So I healed, medded up to full mana, and thought I would try once more, since it was quite a few minutes later.

I port in, take less then half a breath and see(still standing at the port in)
"A Frost Giant Scout hits YOU for 35 points of Damage"
"A Frost Giant Scout hits YOU for 60 points of Damage"

and this one RESISTED my first 3 snares, I was at one bubble of health.... I finally landed a snare, hauled my hobbit behind a goodly distance away , and gated out.

Some days, there are just huge neon signs that say "DONT LEAVE THE BAZAAR/POK".

I didnt go back to Iceclad that night.

    ROFL

When I was level 34 I think, and got Iceclad Portal, I died 3-4 times to those things, because I did exactly what you did... paniced, and ran around getting adds.

It got to the point that I refused to port people there without donation first, and a large one, so I could instantly press gate when I landed.

They were always dark blue, I don't think even at 34 they were white/red. I know at 43 they are dark blue, light blue, with a few scattered greens.

Now when I have been tradeskilling and have full mana, I go there, find a couple dervs, waste my mana on em, and happily gate back to tradeskill again .

Soo many dead piles of snow in the past few weeks, I can't believe I ever died from them at 34

      Don't remind me. . .

Level 31, wanted to leave, no porters on /guild, no porters in zone, no porters on /guild. . .waiting and waiting for that boat. . .been out of bait for an eternity. . .Finally A) a druid (34) comes into zone and I ask him for a port and start running to the druid ring, yes invis B) one of my port-capable druid guildies (36?) logs on and hears me chirping about finally leaving and says "no, no, I'll take you!"

      Result?

      First druid dies
      I feign death
      Guild druid arrives
      Guild druid dies
      First druid returns
Guild druid returns with guild cleric
      Guild cleric rezzes guild druid
I plead with guild cleric to rez first druid
      First druid returns
      Guild druid dies again
      First druid dies again
Guild cleric gates on low health
I (still feigning death) close to tears
Guild druid returns AGAIN and ports me out as fast as elvenly possible

Every single time I have been GGed into IC I have had this happen. I can't seem to zone into the portal without at least 3 snow dervishes on top of me. I haven't died there, but I have had to rez 3 druids who were nice enough to gate me there, but too low to survive the landing assualt.

Just about the happiest thought that went through my head when I got SoL was that I would never HAVE to gate into IC again if I didn't want to.

          IC portal

Aye this is just one of the most evil portal in the world. But like many other things it does get easier at higher levels as your aggro radius drops. What I have always done is get a sow before I jump into the zone and then run for EW. Zone out and be done with it. IC mobs are such undercons with their high MR and hp that it was pretty much a waste of time for my cleric to try killing them.

I wouldn't say its The most evil port in the world. For me, Skyfire hands down is the most evil port.

Wizards port in surrounded by dragons... but get the spell at 39. I have died 3 of 5 times I've ported people there.

Once I had a very difficult CR, the other 2 I was porting clerics, who dragged my body away and rezzed it.

I may as well advertise "Willing to be Sacced in Skyfire for 50pp min donation!"

For a long time, I would port into GD and then run to Iceclad...much safer.

Now I just click innate camo and go about my business =)

Going to Iceclad suddenly doesn't sound very appealing. 31 druid and I'm supposed to be going on a raid with my guild to Tower of Frozen Shadow.

                  Hmmmm....

I can't begin to tell you how many times I've died porting into there (including one time where an epic cleric clicked my warrior, and I was dead again before I looted my corpse /sigh). When we were hunting the tower in our 30s our method was to make sure we have sow before porting in; as SOON as you have control again, run out the door and run *straight* as fast as you're little feet will take you (over water, trying to stay on ice floes or with lev). Once you hit the main continent again turn right and run to the gnolls. The tower is near there. We generally managed to outrun everything, but it helps to have a tankly type with you to take a few of the hits while you take off. The snow gnolls are friendly, their camp is quasi safe (only quasi, invariably a quadder will run over you or a soloing necro will feign a dervish on top of you while you're low mana and afk). Alternatively, book it to GD and run from there, sowed and invised, and maybe leved for those pesky cliffs. I hated those cliffs.

Heres an idea. When you get hired for a port to ICO, grab a random LFG 60+ ranger or something in the zone youre in, pay em half your take to kill whatever attacks the group and port em back. Bodyguard services... Shouldnt take but 60 seconds of their time.

Skiyfire wizzie port is deffinately worse.. usually a ton of chromos who imeadiately start dispelling buffs on you.. like...SoW....

IC is pretty nasty though, especially at the level the spell for there is recieveid. Oddly, we had 3 or 4 groups port in one night over the course of 30 mins this last week, and the protal was clear each time... with only one other perosn in zone over at the gnome camp. Musta been the luckiest streak ever in that zone.

I died to those #%(*@! dervishes once in my mid-50s. I'd been soloing the 3rd floor of ToFS for my key, with most of that stuff green but still nothing I could let bash on me unattended. The key mob popped out of the first respawn so there were other respawns on me by the time I finished him off. I completely forgot about the dervishes outside and thought I'd just click on the mirror to zone out and not have to deal with them. Then I finished zoning and was getting whammed on by a bunch of dervishes when I was already at low health. I have clickly sow on my boots from the shaman epic so I could sow myself and take off running. Alas, I didn't stop to think that the water wouldn't slow them down much, and they caught up to me while I was swimming over to the island with the portal, intending to run to GD to zone. By the time I reached land again I was low enough health that I couldn't outrun them even with sow, and the cheeky buggers killed me.

It was while I was searching for a cleric to rez me that I realized that the zone-in to ToFS is safe so I would have been fine if I'd just zoned back in.

                            Ah, ToFS.. my friend.

My old cleric went on a raid spree with a group of 4 others that I had befriended in our days fighting in OT. Here's the summary of our exploits

1st attempt) Zone into IC, within moment four dervishes are on us, druid evacs
2nd) Zone into IC, three derves immediatly on druid, dies, everyone finally finishes zoning while I'm running in circles rooting them, got an add, but rooted that too. We kill them and I rez druid. End up failing to find entrance to tower and with about 8 dervs on our tail the druid evacs.
3rd) No dervs, woo hoo! Take things slowly this time and find the entrance. Two zone in but fail to tell me and the fourth that you actually have to click the portal.. we die. After rezes we give up
4th) Two derves in zone in, quickly killed, all to Tower just fine, get all the way to level four, wiped out in about 2 minutes when two wandereer decide to add to the group of 3 we managed to pull right off... no one knew how to get to the exit mirror, so we where screwed
5th) 4th level again, after reading more info on it we manage to get one key and, apperantly, gave it to the wrong person as, instead of killing everything up to the mirrow, we invis and sneak past.. stand at mirror... waiting... waiting... uuuuh... someone's invis drops, 5 MoBs aggro, everyone decides to try to fight.. wipeout.
6th) Same exact thing! CLICK THE **** MIRROR! Wipe
7th) Someone's invis drops halfway to the mirror, two people down before we zone into 5th level and have to immediatly exit to keep from getting killed as well
8th) FINALLLY get to 5th level without a stinking wipe simply by forgoing invis and just killed everything on the way to the mirror. Had a CotH-able Mage this time. Camped the wedding three times with no drops, decided to go up higher. Ended up at 7th level where the boss dude aggros us too early so the druid evacs just in time to save everyone
9th) You guessed it, wiped at 4th floor again.

                            Never been back.

                              not much safer for me.
My first time in GD i was a 34 cleric got a port from a guildy druid to the dragon ring and had a guildy bard waiting for me to take me to where they where hunting. i didnt talk to teh bard for a while and messaged her right before i left. not waiting for a reply where where off. i ported in to find the corpse of my bard guild with to of the elder dragon things at the portal and yes i died and the druid left. the next day i had a freindly invite to go hunt with a bunch of freinds but stupid me forgot that after the incident the night before i bound myself at the dragon portal in GD. Well needless to say the cleric wound up dieing again~ the cleric being me~ spawing in GD only to be attacked by one of the grizzly things i died again but not after a long run to get him away so i didnt run into a death cycle[/quote]
