:( That was discouraging.

Lvl 38 ranger. In order to make Thurg gate potions need pottery skill of 122. Read you can do that for about 50pp ( this was pre-nerf)

Went to Thurg bought componenets for 60 small bowls. trained pottery skill to 20. Did 60 combines for 3 skillups. dex was 98.

Decided I needed more dex, got shammy buff for dex to 140. did 20 combines, 3 skillups.

Is there something I could be doing different. I will go broke before I reach 122. Please help.

I believe they are a little over 100 not over 110 tho.
They may have been shammy buffed also do not recall.

Last I checked, I can't buff wis/int :)

Fine, than it wasnt.

Is the point I need to have higher int/wis and higher dex to get some skillups in pottery? even from the very low lvls 25ish?

That was quite a nerf than.

The only thing that will affect your skillups for pottery is the highest of Int or Wis. Alas, Shaman buffs won't help. If you need some ideas for cheap Wis Gear, post here and we can give you some tips.

Personally, I think it would be cheaper for you to do Casserole Dishes than Velium Vials, especially at your wisdom level. You just need to run to Jaggedpine to get some Casserole Dish sketches.

Good luck!

I did it with 75 wis (way back when Velious was the new expansion) and it took me about 2-3 hours to get to 120ish. Skill ups were very slow until the skill reached about 50 and then it started to take off.

Given the nerf...well...lets just say that guide may be out of date. :)

Just skilled up 0-109 yesterday on less then 24P (Best prices from vendors helped keep price low)

It took a long time to get to 60 (240+ combines) but once there, it skyrocketed to 109 in only 150 more combines. (okay so that doesn't sound like skyrocketing now, but it felt like it)

I started with Medium Jars (Block of clay, water flask, medium jar sketch). I only did around 50 of these, and that took it from 0 to 35 or so.

I then switched to Medium Bowls (block of clay, water flask, medium bowl sketch) and finished off at 109 in under 2 hours.

I did all my combines in felwithe and never fired a single one. INT for all combines was 208 (so I went faster then most will).

Hope the info helps :)

If you are just getting high enough for the Thur Gate potions you shouldn't have much of a problem. If you are trying for higher, That's where you will run in to bad runs.

I hope you are using thurgadin gate potion for the quest not for the gate purpose. If I recall correctly, there's a minimal lvl that you can use it as gate potion. (lvl 60). Just an fyi.

Not true. I use it all the time and I am only 57.

Is there a minimum level, though? Less then 57 obviosly, but can anyone verify?

I used one at 45, I dont think that there is a required level on there, Short of Pottering up a level 1 and trying it out, I guess we will never know :c)~

I can't believe that rumor still floats around! =)
You can click the effect on the thurg gate potion well before level 60. I'm a druid so I haven't made once since I did shawl 4, but I'm quite sure they don't even have the recommended tag anymore.

Well, I'm level 13 with a 109 pottery. I will try it if I can get the components somehow.

On The Nameless server is anyone wants to help with this attempt.

How hard would the components be to acquire?

Enchanters and bards can both buff up your wis/int

There was not a limit when it first came out, but up until i'd say about 7 months or so ago, it was changed that you can only use it if you are lvl 60. (I think it's around the same time that they revamp CT). Can anyone that's under lvl 60 to try it? I don't have any char with pottery to make potion and under lvl 60, other wise I'd try it myself. It's been a long while since I've seen one, so did the level limit get removed after that or not, I don't know, I was just posting what I thought it was there.

It was just an fyi, in case that's the sole purpose that player wants to do, and I think I'd be littlie disappointed if I was that person and found out I've done tons of work for nothing.

Already on the case. I am trying to figure out how to get the components and if successful will give it a try this weekend!

I can confirm that you can click the potion and gate as low as level 32 when I first tried it about 4 months ago... I can still click the potion today at level 50...

It's marked Recommended level 60... it has been for a long time. But it works for anyone that's been able to make it... no-one seems to know why it's tagged 60th level, but it doesn't seem to have an effect.

I remember the panic at the Ranger's Glade when the Recommended Level 60 first got stuck on the Thurg Gate Potion. As everybody has already said here, it is usable well below 60.

I'm currently doing pottery for that reason, getting to 135 based on the FAQ formula. I did do 1-57 before the pottery nerf, but I did 57-122 in about 400 combines (1g per combine for medium bowl) with 130 wis. I posted the first half of the skillup data in the General Tradeskills area, if you want to take a look (it's with some baking skillups that I did the same night).

Once I trivialed the bowl, I seemed to have the choice of easy but expensive 2p per combine large bowls or cheaper poison vials with zombie farming.

I bought three stacks of bowl ingredients, and proceeded to go 0 for the first 37 combines, skillup-wise. I then got 5 skillups on the last 23 combines. I decided to farm the zombies in Oasis for a bit and got 16 combines worth of Puma skins, MQ cat pelts, and Zombie skins, from which I got one more skillup.

Hope that helps.

My main has 206 pottery, but I decided to get my 51 ranger some skill so she could make gate potions for emergencies. Bought 100 combines worth of supplies for jars to start out... only got my skill from 0 to 3, the very first combine getting her from 0 to 1. :( She's a ranger so her wis is only about 110, so I guess I need to up that for skillups, although she got her Fletching to 150 easily with even lower wis and very little money, and before they made Fletching "easier". Hmm....

Well, I went from 0-122 just this week.

with 122 int i was averaging 1-2 skillups per 20 combines.

Not too bad, imho. I had a streak from 70-76 where I got 6 skillups on a stack. Yay!

Still VERY cheap to get to 122 compared to other tradeskills.
