8 th shawl combine question

i have successfully made all the 8 pieces of armour (woot etc)

have succesfully imbued 4 pieces (no fails)

now i'm paranoid lol (bound to fail summat soon!!)

SO what happens on the final armour combines? do you lose the armour AND gem or just the gem (the quest writeup on eqtraders says JUST the gem but i have heard conflicting reports)

anyone know for SURE ??

While imbuing the armor with the gems a failure RETURNS the armor and LOSES the gem, I had it happen while imbuing my legs once so am positive at least on that piece.
