All trophies trivial at 250+. The lower you are from there, the bigger chance of failing. At 250, from what I've read, there's roughly a 50/50 chance of making the trophy. Personally I'm not going to attempt my pottery trophy til I hit 250. Considering how expensive they are to attempt, I'd wait til then.

failed twice at 232 skill
failed twice at 249 skill

finally have the plat and gems to try again but having troubles chasing down the enchanter to make the mana vial =p

there are just as many tales of joy from folks who did it first try, though. good luck to you!

Random. Personally it's not worth it till you get about 238. Skills max out at 252, so with a regular geerlok you'll have your best shot.

I will keep saying this as long as people keep asking...

I got mine on my second attempt at 210-214 (I really wish I had paid more attention)

I started with 3 seals and was ready to burn them all up if need be cause I really wanted my spoon!!

Talk about random... If you have the money to spare and not freak out if you fail, go for it! If you are just going to whine if it fails then maybe you should wait. /shrug

Just keep in mind there are many of use who got our spoon faster at lower levels then those that have tried with a skill of 250.

Hit 250 last night, tried(with geerlock) for spoon, and the RNG wasn't with me, i failed, boo- hoo, time to sell some picnics and do some porting
I just wish you could smith the chunks of velium you forage into bars some how, i'd give my right arm to not have to pay 525pp per set of bars of velium******************************decided to just edit instead of repost so as to not waste space*******************************
tried again after school, no work today yeah, took me a couple of hours to find a jeweler to mount my gems but found one, they didn't fail, i made the seal my self, it lagged a bit when i fired and i thought i lost it, i was going to go ape droppings, but it was succesful, then went to the lost turnip, put the geerlock on popped into oven the seal and spoon, and asked guildies for luck, and voila where there was the gm spoon on combine...any body on drinal need a set of baking geerloks your's real cheap...PST....thx....now for hero parts and justice fruit come on lvl 46

I always feel bad when I read these posts... I made mine on my first try.. and the best part was that I did not pay a cent for the materials... One of my guild enchanters was nice enough to just give me all the pieces.

My plan is simple. Get to 226 (trivial on Halas meat pies), then use the profits from said carnivorous delights to fun my trophy attempt(s). Yes, I'll be trying at 226 (with geerlok). If all goes well, I'll have 10 extra Wisdom to carry me through MTPs. =)

I am pretty sure I will wait till 245 at the least. Im a poor cleric so gems usually get turned into peridots or goodies like GVD's and Shrinking devices.

I like toys, shame they use lots of batteries though.

Tried and failed at 245. :(

So what was the outcome Dewback??

I wasn't brave enough to try mine until I gained 250 skill in baking.

Succeeded first attempt (with geerlok).

Hubby has so far failed two attempts at his Grandmaster Jewellers Spyglass (at 250 skill plus geerlok).

They're non trivial at 250 skill, if you want your best chance of success get the skill first.

Hugs,
Tiniane.

I made mine at 201 Tailoring first shot. I tried it because I had read that there was a mesasge somewhere that there might be a cap on the combine that you could not attempt it so low. I got the gems and mounted them up and grabbed the mana in the bazaar and went to work and hit combine and almost fell out of my chair when I got my needle.

Yes I know this is baking but I posted my part first becasue my friend with 250 in baking has tried 4 times and failed all 4.

How's this for a definitive reply:

With geerlok, you should try your trophy any time between skill 238 and 249. 238 because your chances will never increase, no matter how many skill ups you get, and 249 because there's always a chance that you will skill up on it. =)

Maevenniia, whats wrong with batteries? I happen to be a class that cant invis so I do go through lots of Mana Batteries - Class Five. Plus I prefer to be shrunk while I ride my horse, so I go through Mana Batteries - Class Six now as well. I am not sure just what you are insinuating.

The batteries thing was a reference to a RL use for batteries.

From what i heard, some fail at 250 some succeeds at 201.

Well, last night i decided to give it a shot.
My skill fletching skill is 221 and i put on my geerlok planning tool.

SUCCEEDED et voila!

Grandmaster Fletching Knife.

My trophy is in pottery, not baking, but I read a tip somewhere after failing my first attempt that seems to work (and as a maker of Artisan's Seals I advise those customers who ask to follow this tip...)

Attempt your trophy combine following a series of failed combines (a baker friend made his after two sets of 8 in 10 fails) in your tradeskill. For some reason, you have a greater chance of success then... maybe it is the very act of switching to a different combine that does it, but it seems to work.

Personally, I think waiting for maximum skill level for trying for trophy is a waste of resourses. If you are having difficultly maxing out your main stat, the trophy will usually help you out and allow you to get best prices from a vendor. All these things will help you in your final skill ups.

I just nailed my fifth trophy today ( 5 different characters btw). Took me two tries for fletching at 235, two tries for baking at 233, two tries for smithing at 243, one try for brewing at 248, four tries at 250 for jewel craft. All these were done with a geerlok except for baking (I forgot to load the thing up lol). My guild has a rogue poison maker that has failed his three times at 250.

The point here is that waiting won't insure sucess. Get the trophy while you can really make some use of it getting those last few skill ups.

BTW todays trophy was obtained by a level 21, so don't worry about level either.

Qoute: Personally, I think waiting for maximum skill level for trying for trophy is a waste of resourses.

I have to agree with that. That is why I tried mine at 201 Tailoring and was so happy to succeed. I am a hair foot Hobbit and have a starting cha of 50. I had to lug around in an already crammed set of bags and bank space two steins and a necklace to get my cha over 100 OUCH. Now I carry just one stein and my trophy in the range slot and I am over the mark.

Update on baking trophy my friend is 5of5 at 250 so far.

Update on baking trophy my rl wife Clairice made her trophy she tried once at 249 and then made some more food and skilled to 250 while I made another seal and she succeeded at 250 WOOT WOOT.

I heard somewhere that after some patches, that the upgraded version of trophies allows you to summon a 100% weight reduction bag that is NOT no rent?

Can anyone confirm or deny?

Noni DeeCups
12-09-2002, 11:17 PM
No - you summon a no rent bag and turn it into the gnome upstairs in the Bazaar and he will give you a 100% wt reduction bag that is not no rent. But you can only have one - and that is still better than none!

Well, figured I'd give it a go myself. 229 with geerlok and I failed

Guess I'll try it again when I've got another 4k to blow. Till then I'll just happily keep making my MTP's at a 33% sucess rate.

6th attempt on my baking spoon and i FINALLY got it! go me! For the record:

0/2 at skill 232 with geerlock
0/2 at skill 249 with geerlock
1/2 at skill 250 with geerlock

since the insane RNG appears to not really care what one's skill level is, my 205 smith is gonna go for hers as well :) it's only plat, after all!

grats to all of you who got yours on your first try!
