Smithing skill increase on no-fail combine

I did the final combine on the earring of the solstice last night. (9 gifts in the forge and hit combine) I got a skill up to 1 (you have increased your skill in smithing (1)). Don't know what the trivial actually is on this or if there is one, but I thought it was humerous since I couldn't fail.

Hehe, for all of the people looking for an "easy" way to skill up. Just 10k per combine, but everything is sold in bazaar.

Had that happen to my Cleric some time ago. I dont think the final combine was trivial to me at 245, when I attempted my own earring, either...

i had armor of ro (paly quest armor) do the same thing, it triv's at 1, but if you have 0 skill you can improve on a no fail combine.
